As Project Manager I am responsible for delivering the whole life cycle of this Design and build contract, consisting of CE&I & HVAC systems. Due to a strong commercial and planning background, my primary duties are to deliver the project in line with baseline schedule and cost figures, maintaining the forecasted tender margin. Below is a list of tasks which form part of my duties on this contract:-

1 Commercially viable tender compiled and submitted on target cost basis.

2 Contract baseline position negotiated and agreed with client on target cost basis.

3 Selection and procurement of specialist designers, sub-contractors and vendors based on technical and commercial proposals.

4 Material take offs compiled with labour norms applied to establish labour and material requirements.

5 Project Management software Primavera P3 used to develop integrated Programme consisting of schedule, resources and costs.

6 Programme logic integrated with main contract programme.

7 Programme updates conducted weekly, reporting Earned Value against target baseline position.

8 Weekly Progress Reports & Monthly Business Unit Report - Commercial, Engineering, Programme, Quality, Safety, Risk and Value Engineering Proposals.

9 Sub-contract schedule and cost performance analysed weekly.

10 Planned progress spotlight programmes issued to sub-contractors based on two week look ahead schedule.

11 Risk Management - Integrating commercial, contractual, engineering, safety and schedule risks from tender, risk registers updated monthly as projects progress.

Plant & Site Services Asset Stream - Sellafield

Project Manager

This role involved the delivery of a portfolio of projects as Project Manager for the Main Contractor, including CE&I, Civil and Mechanical disciplines along with various design & build contracts. Due to the rapid turnover of estimates and projects, I streamlined the project management function to integrate estimating, planning and commercial activities. This minimised resource requirements and maximised turnover of work and profit. Combining my estimating and planning experience proved to be an integral link to effectively managing the project, my duties were as follows: -

1 Detailed cost estimates developed using either 'estimation' estimating software or excel spreadsheets. Man hours developed from installation labour norms with assessed labour efficiency factors.

2 Use of Project Management software Primavera P3 to develop integrated Programme consisting of schedule, resources and costs.

3 Weekly Progress Reporting - Commercial, Planning (BCWP / BCWS / ACWP)

4 Monthly internal commercial reporting.

5 Sub-Contract Selection and procurement.

6 Co-Ordination of engineering and supervision resources.

7 Risk Management - Integrating commercial, contractual, engineering, safety and schedule risks from tender, risk registers updated monthly as projects progress.

SNM Detection & AVNPRS Project - Sellafield

Initially instated as bid manager on this Civil, E & I design and build competitive tender in relation to the installation of nuclear detection systems; responsibilities included the initial tender preparation and submission. Following the success of the tender and the subsequent contract award, the role developed to that of Project Manager, responsible for the implementation of project controls and the management of a team in order to develop the design and deliver the project within budget, timescale whist maintaining quality and safety. Without a delivery team around me, I was solely responsible for programme development and implementation, along with the management and control of all costs.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

· Production and updating of tender and contract programme using primavera P3.

· Use tender baseline figures as a guide to monitor progress and control costs.

· Establish resource requirements and co-ordinate efficiently.

· Commercial reporting such as cost to complete and cash flow forecasting.

· Procurement of sub-contractors based on their commercial & technical proposals.

· Material procurement.

Responsible for compiling commercially viable tender submissions ranging from £10K to £20M using innovative solutions and proposals in order to be successful in an ever increasingly competitive market. Responsibilities included the following: -

· Production of accurate and competitive net cost estimates

· Evaluation of construction factors and proposed solutions
