2006 - Date Site Coordinating Installation Design Authority (SCIDA)

Responsible for assessing and approving communications networks on over 100 MOD sites in the North of England. This Involves:

· Assessment and certification of initial project designs against MOD, NATO and British/European standards and regulations.

· Producing remedial action/quality assurance reports for MOD communications networks.

· Assessment and certification of finished installation work.

· Providing technical advice on MOD communication standards and regulations.

· Liasing with multi-national companies and advising on MOD requirements and risk management strategy.

· Configuration management of communications installations.

2003 - 2006 Data Communications Maintenance Engineer

Responsible for maintenance, fault diagnosis and repair on MOD communications equipment.

This involved:

· Carrying out preventative maintenance programmes on messaging systems.

· Diagnosing, controlling, recording and rectifying equipment and network faults.

· Carrying out equipment modifications.

· Installation and testing of new infrastructure.

· Removal of obsolete network infrastructure and active equipment.

· Maintaining test equipment calibration records.

· Liasing with outside agencies and customers.

2000 - 2003 Apprentice Data Communications Engineer

Trained in communications techniques and engineering. This included electronic assembly and wiring; installation, test and inspection of communications media and computer aided design.
