· Selected for promotions by many well known companies, e.g. Sony, Nintendo, Nissan, Disney, BP, Shell, and Castrol.

Invited to join a pioneering new product team introducing simulation technologies into the entertainment market. The equipment appeared on UK TV programs such as Tomorrows World, QED and Equinox.

Responsibilities:

· Take new products from conceptual or early prototype & transform into a viable production design using standard parts.

· Created and ran 3 departments; hardware engineering, software development and Installations/After sales and hand picked my staff of 12.

· Department head; prioritising workloads, allocate staff to work packages, meet with clients and senior management. With such a small staff it was necessary for me to remain hands on when it came to designs and installations.

· Dealing with the client from senior management levels down to facilities support.

· Liaison with suppliers and customers to discuss & resolve any technical issues

· Software design and configuration, systems integration and running customer acceptance tests (FAT & SAT).

· Full life cycle of the product, taking the first customer telephone enquiry, through the face to face design negotiation, onto the development phase right up to the equipment installation and even the product after care and upgrade.

· Product development including design for maintainability & spares commonality. Reliability monitoring.

· Preparation of Procedural Instructions, technical bulletins & change notices.

· Design of electrical and electronic assemblies (19 inch & 27 inch racks) as well as PCB design to production standards.

· Integration of equipment with third party/ client equipment at customer's sites.

· Giving customer training courses and the production of supporting documentation, both in house and on site.

· Design authority for large electro-mechanical passenger systems.

· Commission large 6 axis motion systems, with an understanding of their hydraulic operation.

Commissioning Engineer Rediffusion Simulation Ltd 1979-1985

Testing, integration and commissioning aircraft training equipment to international standards in factory and at the client's site.

Responsibilities:

· An understanding of most aircraft systems, such as navigation, auto-flight, controls and a variety of others.

· Knowledge of bespoke software tools and computational systems to assist in the testing of the equipment.

· Working closely with project managers, fitters, wiremen, production staff and junior technicians

· Testing training equipment to CAA/FAA standards both in-house & at client sites (FAT & SAT).

· Take designers prototype subsystem & integrate into main product using standard methods & parts.

· Ran departmental section consisting of approximately 15 technicians and engineers allocating project coverage and shifts to each individual based on the prevailing priorities.

Achievements:-

· Specialisation with aircraft voice communications in addition to other simulator systems.

· Installing and testing the equipment at the clients' site abroad against tight schedules.

· Seconded to American Airlines Training Ltd as an on-site shift service engineer from 1982-1983. This involved dealing with equipment faults throughout the training facility, across a wide range of technologies and manufacturers, usually under pressure. Required good communications skills and a certain degree of diplomacy

Instructor Systems Analyst Redifon Flight Simulation Ltd 1978-1979

Programming state of the art graphics system used to produce map and textual displays using a proprietary computer language.

Responsibilities:

· Training to other engineers to support the adoption of this new technology into the corporate product range.

Achievements:-

· Creation of a product baseline from a prototype generated by the development department.

· Author of both a language reference and a programming guide to support the use of the system.

Systems Design Technician Redifon Flight Simulation Ltd 1976-1978

Analysis of aircraft systems using manufacturer's drawings, schematics and operations manuals.

Responsibilities:

· Production of drawings to define the hardware requirements for the simulator.

Achievements:-

· Writing software flow diagrams and code functional descriptions for US military and civil airline products.
