Implementation of Lean Manufacturing techniques in a manufacturing plant supplying precision parts to customers, primarily Airbus.
Used variety of tools including 8D and Six Sigma to control and improve the Quality aspect of the business’ products. Set up a Quality Database to record information on the products to produce reports and measures for controlling quality.
Involved in internal and external audits to ensure adherence to customer procedures, internal procedures and Civil Aviation Authority requirements.

Improving and developing Manufacturing and Test techniques in a high-volume, second-tier automotive supplier of electronically-controlled hydraulic steering systems. AMEC Process and Energy, Wallsend, Tyne & Wear

Went through Graduate Training scheme within AMEC, an offshore fabrication yard, working within various aspects of projects to meet the needs of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers’ accredited training scheme. This included three months at AMEC’s Design Offices in London.
After the scheme as a Production Development Engineer I carried out a project investigating benchmarking within the offshore industry. This work was carried out in close conjunction with the Engineering Design Centre at Newcastle University.

Merck Sharp & Dohme, Cramlington, Northumberland

My student placement for my degree was at Merck Sharp & Dohme, a pharmaceutical manufacturing plant where I worked within the Site Services Department. This role involved looking at utility usage at the plant and implementing improvements which I did with the use of a Building Management System.
Successfully improved the efficiency of the site’s boiler system and aided the implementation of a Combined Heat and Power system.
