Controlling a variety of projects on a chemical production plant. The plant is undergoing the long-term Titan project to increase production by 50%. Currently carrying out a variety of projects including vessel replacement, classifier upgrades, installation of a sampling system and dosing pump replacements. Creating Scopes of Work and liaising with Engineers and Designers, suppliers, sub-contractors and the plant team. Working to tight deadlines based around planned shutdowns

Controlling multi-disciplined work scopes for AJS in Great Yarmouth with Wallsend acting as a Distributed Engineering Office. Work Scopes cover Engineering & Maintenance Projects, Boat Landing Stations & Frontline PIR Reviews.
Ensuring deliverables agreed at Kick-Off Meetings are met: Basis for Design, Project Specifications, P&ID’s, Estimating Scope Sheets, CTR’s, etc.
Organising regular Project Meetings and reporting on progress, internally and to the client. Controlling hours expended on work against agreed CTR’s.
Liasing with the client over bringing other work scopes to Wallsend

Implementation of Lean Manufacturing techniques in a manufacturing plant supplying precision parts to customers, primarily Airbus.
Used variety of tools including 8D and Six Sigma to control and improve the Quality aspect of the business’ products. Set up a Quality Database to record information on the products to produce reports and measures for controlling quality.
Involved in internal and external audits to ensure adherence to customer procedures, internal procedures and Civil Aviation Authority requirements.

Improving and developing Manufacturing and Test techniques in a high-volume, second-tier automotive supplier of electronically-controlled hydraulic steering systems. Used tools such as FMEA’s and 8D’s in the improvement processes of Automatic Optical Inspection systems, Full Functional Testers, In-Circuit Testers and be-spoke machines.
At various times I was also responsible for Departmental Procedures and Audits, Engineering & Design Change Control and Drawing Control within the plant.

Went through Graduate Training scheme within AMEC, an offshore fabrication yard, working within various aspects of projects to meet the needs of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers’ accredited training scheme. This included three months at AMEC’s Design Offices in London.
After the scheme as a Production Development Engineer I carried out a project investigating benchmarking within the offshore industry. This work was carried out in close conjunction with the Engineering Design Centre at Newcastle University.

My student placement for my degree was at Merck Sharp & Dohme, a pharmaceutical manufacturing plant where I worked within the Site Services Department. This role involved looking at utility usage at the plant and implementing improvements which I did with the use of a Building Management System.
Successfully improved the efficiency of the site’s boiler system and aided the implementation of a Combined Heat and Power system.
