Working for London Underground Public Private Partnership (PPP). This a project that gives us a work scope of 144 stations to be modernised & enhanced re-furbishments over a period of 7.5 years and on a budget of nearly £1.2 billion. The requirements of my position are the day to day running of 10 Category (A) Stations in London. Currently promoted to Acting Project Construction Manager (July 06).
Contract budgets varying from £8m - £60m of enhanced refurbishments and Modernisation Works, inclusive of Civil Engineering, Mechanical & Electrical and Decorations throughout.
Early stage work including intrusive and non-intrusive surveys, planning and design issues, organisation of site facilities prior to start on site.
Control of Sub-contractors, accident/incident investigating & reporting, audits, pre-planning meetings, safety tours and signing of Method Statements and third party issues.
Advising on health and safety issues when requested. Attending Construction program meetings at design stages with input to the overall program for the works. Currently acting Project Construction Manager.
Overseeing all site works/possession works. The focal point of contact for any issues raised. Signing Method Statements and a control of sub-contractors on a day to day basis. Carrying out health & safety audits & tours, plant inspection as per PUWER regulations. Taking possession of the line under T2 arrangements and reporting to the local infrastructure control.
West Anglia Route Modernisation Alliance

Duty Manager and Operational Health and Safety Advisor for the West Anglia Route Modernisation (WARM Alliance £190m Signalling contract).Overseeing all site works/possession works. The focal point of contact for any issues raised on site to do with Signalling, Civil, M&E, Permanent way, OLE permits & limits of work changes & any issues raised concerning local infrastructure control rooms. In absence of Senior Management, acting Integration Manager and Acting Health & Safety (C.D.M) Manager. Qualified Network Rail RT/LS/S/019 Rimini Planner for the protection of people working on or near the line.
Duties include:
Signing off method statements, organising and carrying out Safety Briefing Inductions, Site Safety Inspections, attending possession meetings on behalf of safety. Carrying out possession audits, fully briefing project staff on new procedures and standards from Network Rail. Ensuring that the Network Rail Operational Rule Book standards are carried out. Accident/Incident investigating & reporting. Managing/Monitoring signalling equipment installations, Permanent way installations, M&E installations & Civil Engineering for the Alliance members. Acting as interface between site managers/engineers, management & senior management. Ensuring the day to day running of the project for site based activities is completed on time and to budget, and within quality standards stipulated. Responsible for on site resources and motivating team members. Having all site disciplines reporting direct to myself on completion of work carried out for shifts worked. Discipline included are, Civils, M&E, Overhead line works, Signalling installations, Testing & commissioning & communications. Ensuring that track hand back is completed as to correct procedures & ensuring all Engineering train movements & on track plant Is manage safely. This at peak work times would range from a workforce of 250/300 operatives covering all signalling modernisations/track p-way works/ OHLE & CIVILS. My duties also required me to monitor track possession and isolation procedures. Any issues raised on site would be reported to myself and dealt with in the interest of safety, programmed works & operational hand back.
Overhead line Authorised person for isolation of 25Kv systems & issuing of isolation permits.

Works and Possession Supervisor
Site Manager June 1997 - September 2001
Works Supervisor and Person in Charge of Works (PICOW) for Railtrack station regeneration. Solely responsible for setting up and maintaining the safety on site for those carrying out the works. This may mean blocking the lines from rail traffic to ensure work groups and trains are separated. Person in Charge of Possession (PICOP) duties and advising on possessions and Engineering Supervisor duties. Instructing the movements of engineering trains & On Track Machine movements.
Railtrack Signalling Project (£150m)

Working on the Great Eastern Re-Signalling Project. Installation of resignalling equipment.
In charge of a 6 man team of signalling installers. Carrying out Track circuitry installation by drilling the rail or CAD welding. Installing under tack crossings. Bonding from rail to structures. Troughing route installations. Trackside cabinet locations for relays & signal links.Installing treadles and axle counters.
Working on the London, Tilbury and Southend Re-Signalling Project. Installation of re-signalling equipment.

Based at London Earls Court & Olympia Exhibition Centres Carrying out high profile decoration for clients. Application of wall coverings such as Leather, Suede & Hessian textiles were a regular quality used by the clients. This also was applied to the Royal Box at the Royal Tournament Show each year, which I was privileged to work on. Travelling round the UK & Europe was a common occurrence at least once a month to other Exhibition Halls.
