Design Engineer, Chorley 2002 - Present

Responsible for the production of concept designs, development and manufacture of trials hardware and the analysis of a design's performance and integrity. There is a requirement to collaborate with other organisations to conduct bid preparation tasks, and to undertake project and subcontract management tasks.

Key Achievements:

ˇ Successful development of a technical demonstrator system for the MoD using a combination of trials and numerical modelling simulations.

- Improved system performance in excess of the customer requirements generating interest in follow on development contract

- Integrated warhead system into complex missile systems, implementing novel design solutions based on experience from previous programmes.

ˇ Management of the interface between the manufacturing and construction subcontractors installing a new manufacturing facility ensuring production restarted in time to meet contract deliverable schedules. This included developing and managing the plan and budget to train personnel to operate production lines within new facility.

ˇ Successfully organised a product trial ensuring trials hardware was manufactured to schedule. Provided engineering support to the trial and was able to use the trials results to implement improvements the next iteration product design

ˇ Conducted business management and planning activities including monthly preparation and presentation of forward load to enable the senior management to direct the business

W.S. Atkins, Industrial Placements (Engineering Consultants) 1998 & 1999

Gained experience in the nuclear and rail sectors of the business with the emphasis on using modelling software for product development. Responsible for a project to investigate improvements to train safety by modelling occupants using LS-DYNA 3D.
