Involved in all aspects of IT for two locations in Aberdeen as well as remote control

of sites overseas that were either LAN based or dial up based. All aspects of installing and maintaining bespoke MS Apps and tailored apps that FMC use in day to day issues. Remote control of file servers/print servers/ISA servers and Tape Backup servers. Also control of Meridian telephony system. Efficient use of AD 5.2 and initially Exchange 5.5to create windows and email accounts and provide end services that the customer could use. Latterly migrated to using Exchange 2003.

Contracted through Accenture to work on the migration to XP for Subsea 7. Repackaging all associated applications both bespoke and tailored that were in Subsea 7 portfolio using InstallShield Admin Studio 6. Also involved with the uploading of scripted applications to SMS and subsequent deployment to workstations. Configuration of Oracle/SQL databases that the company used extensively.

Administration of existing and new accounts as well as realising full security for Well Information to Clients specifications. Netware 4.01 was also being supported due to the fact that finance application had to be supported but did not run at that time on a more modern operating system. MS office and MS outlook were the main applications with a varied spread of other applications including AutoCad.

For problems that could not be solved quickly it was necessary to liase with the Application Software House and the client to arrange necessary updates. Reporting to the UN in New York via Satellite Phone and MS Access V2 database on daily progress of UN SCR986 sanctions on trade to Iraq. Also leasing with IT department of the UN in New York as to the functionality of Lotus Data link and Lotus Notes Email this being the primary mode of transport of data to the UN.Hardware platform is Windows 95 with associated MS Open mail to Lloyds and Office 98 products. Liasing with Lloyds IT department in London and UN as to proposed upgrade of communications to the use of Cisco 2000 routers and ISDN technology with the effect that this would have on current dial up services.

DUTIEs NT Systems Engineer



At first involved in office moves which meant recabling and reconfiguration of in-house SYTEC LAN network, with resultant testing of terminals

Placed in charge of work requests for in-house p.c.'s. This involved building new P.C.'s with new software installation. Also the retrofitting of bus cards and software on pre built p.c.'s.Working mainly with IBM/AT or Atclones 8086/80286/80386 machines.Building of Apple Macintosh pcs and installation of peripheral equipment and software was also undertaken.Installation of network adapter cards and Novell/TCPIP software on all pcs throughout the Shell Expro network.

Transferred into project work dealing with the communications infastructure in Shell.This involved the testing and configuration of SYTEC LAN. broadband system,Chipcom ethernet tri-channel,G.D.C. T.M.S./Megamux/minimux multiplexors,Codex 6000/6740 series of multiplexors and DEC/XYPLEX terminal servers.Latterly involved with the configuration,installation and commisioning of Cisco Routers.

Transferred to being in charge of all new installations of Desktop computer equipment throughout Shell Expro.In charge of team of four installation engineers.

Headed up new section detailed with the evaluation of all equipment,new or stock,that required movement/installation in Shell Expro.Primarily this was to ascertain whether customers requests were feasible,practìcable in Shell.Heavily engaged in installation of new operating system alongside Microsoft Office97/95,Netscape,Openmail and all other types of software currently used at Shell.
