Nov 2006 to date CBS Outdoor (LUL project)

Snr Project Manager- seconded to CBS from Mouchel Parkman Rail (Value £80M)

To project manage the safe, cost effective and timely delivery of the traditional work stream of CBS. This covers the installation of 30,000 assets within 254 stations across the LU network.

A key part of my role is to consistently provide a cohesive leadership throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring adequate resources are in place to enable a successful delivery.

I am fully accountable for the budget and project delivery to the project board members of CBS.

To play a key role in the effective development of Client relationships and in addition provide input to the tendering process. I liaise very closely with LU (St James office) on a daily/weekly basis and senior manages within the infraco's monthly.

Implement systems and procedures and develop processes for quality and reliability.

Responsible for controlling Contractors/sub-contractors, controlling/monitoring their - quality, costs, handovers, designs & works packages.

Ensure possessions and accesses are booked and monitored.

Ensuring contract programmes are produced, base-lined and monitored.

In association with sub-contractors and/or suppliers, develop cost effective and safe means of equipment installation for all sites.

Responsibility for ensuring that site safety is recognised as the project's overriding principle.

To ensure all activities comply with the requisite health, safety, environmental and group standards.

In addition to the above I Project Managing a resignalling Project for Westinghouse -CTRL at Kings Cross - St Pancras. Relaying and pulling cables ranging in size and type from a 2 core to 33kv power cables to 48 core signalling cables, installation and testing of LOC's, signal gantry's and posts. This project came to a satisfactory conclusion and commission, on time and to budget.

May 2003 - Nov 2004 Network Rail, NTPO Project

Project / Construction Manager - GSM-R (Value £400M - £10m/yr budget)

Project Manage site installation contractors to ensure implementation target schedules are met for the installation of 2500 GSM base stations with fibre connectivity and supplying power cabling/sub-main cables to each site.

Ensuring supply of power is available at all times either temporary or permanent.

Responsible for acceptance of specific site scope of works by sub-contractors.

Responsible for acceptance of detailed designs (Forms A B and C etc).

Responsible for booking, checking possessions and producing RIMINI plans.

In association with sub-contractors and/or suppliers, develop cost effective and safe means of equipment installation for all sites.

Responsibility for ensuring that site safety is recognised as the project's overriding principle.

To act as the interface through the establishment of co-operative links for construction related issues between the GSM-R project and Network Rail and external safety, standards and regulatory directorate. In association with the Senior Management, establish effective relationships with HMRI and Network rail zone personnel.

To act, through the Senior Management, having delegated authority for all site mast/BTS and MSC installations for the GSM-R project.

Responsibility for the management of all sub-contractor installations, migration and demobilisation activities.

Responsibility to ensure compliance with relevant site safety procedures pertaining to safety and adherence to method statements, risk assessments, and other Network rail procedures.

Responsible for ensuring compliance to relevant Group Standards.

Responsibility for property clearance for all site positions.

Ensure all sites are provided with a source of power cables and their respective terminations for commissioning.

Ensure possessions management compliance with rail standards/procedures.

Jan 2001 - May 2003 Hutchison 3G

Construction/Project Manager SE (Value £13m)

In this role I facilitated the rapid design, cable laying/troughing/rigging, construction and deployment of radio base stations for implementation within the network. GSM & UMTS. 3G. Responsibilities included budgetary control for construction, attending MSV, desktop feasibility studies/meetings. Additional testing of 3G network by drive testing and using an Agilent scanner to collate information. Project managing power cable installation for underground crossings utilising thrust bore technology for the following Clients NGC, NTL, CCI and Transco contracts. Filtering and selecting suitable candidate sites. Attending technical reviews/meetings. Liaise/instruct Planners/Acquisition agents site Designers and construction Contractors. Ensuring, checking general arrangements detail design and that contractors are delivering value for money and build-ability. Additional responsibilities include, issuing site instructions, monitor performances, budgeting (£20m spent to date), update progress/problems/issues and potential risks to other members of my team

1999 - 2001 NTL

Area Construction Manager (Value £1.5M)

My primary role as an ACM was to act as a liaison point between NTL, their contractors, local authorities, other service providers and members of the Public. To ensure the safe and productive installation of 20km of fibre optic cable including the splicing and terminations. In addition to fibre optic I was responsible for the supply and installation of coax, copper and small telco cables.

Maintain and update of all data relevant databases relating to claims, Oftel figures for audit purposes, KPI's, complaints and other utility damages/claims.

Work closely with Way leave and plant protection officers. (PPO)Project Manage/deploy and directly instruct various Utilities and Contractors in construction related matters as required and monitor expenses/budgets. Collate and co-ordinate all legal information surrounding any claim. Identify the needs of internal and external parties and exceed customer expectations.

1997 - 1999 NTL

Advanced Works Supervisor / Engineer (£750,000 Budget)

As supervisor for works on building sites for Cable TV and Telephone, I was responsible for approximately 100 building sites, with a budget of £1 million. In addition I was responsible for all "Small-Works" and Business Installs, within the N East area. Negotiations of prices/costs, a large amount of travelling and producing working documents for small and medium sized contracts, were an everyday occurrence. I am a fully abreast of all relevant quality and safety standards "on site" and within written documents.

1995 - 1997 Comcast Teesside Ltd

Civil's/Cabling Inspector (£300,000 Budget)

As an inspector I dealt with all aspects of laying and planning fibre optic duct work for Comcast's new network. Including construction of the "Head End", where fibre, copper and coax cables were terminated.

Supervision and inspection of excavation and back filling of trenches and the building of a concrete bunker to accommodate the offshore fibre landings/terminations at Redcar-Teesside (24pair) from Holland.

This included the liaison between divers/controllers and excavator on the beach. In addition an understanding of tidal and coordination issues I was responsible for a team of splicers, ensuring quality connections and testing of the fibre optic cable. I also understand the processes of analysis the cables had gone through to get to this stage, from Fatigue to dynamic analysis.

1991 - 1995 Durham County Council/Highways Agency

Civil Engineering Technician (No Budget)

Working on design and build projects of trunk road and motorway design. Producing contract documents (up to £56m), consisting of drainage design, wire rope safety fence design, street lighting and highway design including liaising with statutory bodies and contractors.

1990 - 1991 Nottingham County Council

Highway Technician

Highway maintenance and design for major and minor roads in Nottinghamshire. Liasing with various utilities and Contractors. Producing working drawings for Contractors as well as the Bill of Quantities and other related documents.

1986 - 1987 Hartlepool Borough Council

Architectural Technician

Surveying and planning future re-furb sites. Drawing up proposal plans and dealing with planning applications.
