Duties Responsible for the mechanical and electrical maintenance of plastic extrusion machinery and ancillary equipment including pumps, air compressors, hydraulic systems,AC-DC drives,PLC's etc.

I also fabricate various parts using a lathe and welding equipment.

I also deputize for the Maintenance Manager during his absence.

Duties Mechanical and electrical maintenance and repair of high-speed food packaging machinery. Repair and maintenance of all site services i.e. Steam raising plant, air compressors, ammonia refrigeration plant, air conditioning units, fresh water supply and effluent treatment plant. Manufacture of parts using lathe, milling machine, tig welding and plasma cutting equipment.

Duties I was responsible for all mechanical and electrical installations, maintenance and repair of chipboard laminating and coating machinery.

I was also responsible for the design and manufacture of modifications to existing plant and the design of new plant and machinery,

Achievements Reduction in running costs due to implementation of planned maintenance, effectively eliminating breakdowns.

Redesign of wax coating system, reducing running cost.

Redesign of bitumen coating system, reducing running cost.

Duties I was responsible for the repair and maintenance of high-speed food packaging machinery. Allocation of work to a maintenance staff consisting of forty multi skilled craftsmen and five foremen working a shift system.

Position Works Engineer

Duties As Works Engineer I was responsible for all mechanical and electrical installation, repair and maintenance of machinery relevant to the dairy industry. My duties also included the implementation of maintenance routines, procurement of spares, tools and materials, contracting work out i.e. motor rewinds, machining work, building repairs etc.

Achievements All production overtime, due to breakdowns, eliminated within one month of my taking charge of the engineering department.

Production increased in bottling department, and cartoning production re-established within three months.

Construction of new building and the installation of new milk processing plant.

Only one major breakdown in three years, and even that did not affect production.

Reason for leaving. Redundancy due to business closing down.

Duties I was responsible for the maintenance and repair of machinery relevant to the chipboard furniture manufacturing industry.

Achievements Reduction in downtime due to improved preventative maintenance.

Modification of panel saw to increase production.

Modifications to Weeke drawer front machine to almost treble production.

Modifications to dust extraction system that made it more efficient and improved working conditions.

The design and manufacture of several machine modifications that both increased output and cut costs.
