Here I was responsible for the complete project life cycle including Supplier negotiation and purchase and scheduling of materials and personnel for contracts involving Construction, Overhead Lines and Permanent Way operations.

Career History1967 - 1989
Joined British Rail Workshops, January 1967, as Engineering Trainee. Engineering apprenticeship, as Mechanical Engineering Fitter, till July 1971. Mechanical Engineering Fitter July 1971 till March 1972.
Joined Civil Engineering Plant Managers, British Rail, Glasgow in March 1972 as Technical Officer. Various technical support roles, with particular emphasis on Technical Support. Procurement and Materials management.
In May 1975, still with the Civil Engineering Plant Managers was appointed Senior Technical Officer. Continued technical support activities with an emphasis on Plant and Equipment purchase. Time also spent during this period as Plant Managers Road Vehicle Transport Controller.
December 1983 appointed Development Assistant in Civil Engineering Plant Managers. Responsibilities of this post included Project Management activities of Plant and Equipment purchase, modifications to Plant and Equipment to meet customer's needs and the development of new items of Plant and Equipment and working practices.
Appointed to Industrial Engineer in Plant Managers CE in August 1989 in Re-Organisation. This post mainly covered Work Study activities and Industrial Engineering.
