CMS Energy Oil & Gas Inc, Houston.

Offshore Installation Manager. FPSO Conkouati, Yombo Field. Congo. Central Africa.

Yombo field consists of the FPSO Conkouati and two production/drilling platforms Yombo A & B. The FPSO is a 235,000 dwt tanker converted in Keppel yard, Singapore in 1991. The field produces Sour crude (API = 17.5). Well fluid is processed on the FPSO and treated to control flashpoint and final salt content. The final product being sold as a #6 fuel oil. Yombo A & B platforms consist of 29 producing wells, utilising variable speed drives and Electrical Submersible Pumps. There are three water injection wells. The FPSO uses high pressure boilers and HV steam turbines to generate power. High voltage (13.8KV) sub-sea cables power the platforms, and well fluid is transferred from the platforms via 18" sub-sea pipelines. Process facilities basis of design is for total fluid flow of 70,000 bbls/day.

Achievements and responsibilities;

As field Offshore Installation Manager I was responsible to the Operations and General Mangers for all field HSE, production and cost control issues. We manage an operating budget of US$18M and through improved cost control methods, total production costs in 2002 were reduced to under US$5 per barrel. Safety iniatives were developed in a range of projects including permit to work procedures, incident near miss reporting & investigation, waste & environment, emergency response & control. Efforts to maintain field production rates included side track drilling campaigns, optimisation of well & pump performance, resizing of downhole ESP assemblies during workovers. As a result field oil production drop off was reduced from a budgeted 12% to forecast 4%.

I effectively managed a multi national crew with an offshore head count between 60 - 100 persons of varying nationalities and cultures. We also implemented an in-house training and development program for national staff employees.
