Stepped in a short notice as interim manager for .NET development team. Responsibilities included:
o Line management and recruitment of both permanent and contract staff.
o Architectural design for application development.
o Technical leadership and of development of standards.
Designed new architecture for an existing Home Delivery System to provide enterprise level scalability. Used Windows Communication Foundation to provide n-tier separation of responsibilities and provide future framework for business to business systems integration using SOA. Personally developed prototype to prove new technologies and then managed project to develop software using .NET 3.5 technologies. Used a model driven approach with UML and incorporated unit testing using NUNIT.

In Jan 08 having recruited my successor as development manager moved into senior project manager role. Managed range of development and integration projects using PRINCE2 type methodology. Responsible to all aspects of project management including budget, organisation and Schedule.

Upgraded a client management system to SQL Server 2005/ VB.net 2005. Upgrade included a re-design utilising object oriented best practices to make the software extendable and maintainable.

Managed the development of a Management Information system, and Warehouse Management system for Company with 100 branches and £50M year turnover. Designed and implemented bespoke SQL server database with tiered C#.NET Solutions. Migrated legacy systems to database. Reduced report generation time from hours to seconds. Introduced ASP.NET and SOAP Web Service techniques to provide timely information to management and branches. Covered all phases of the development from analysis, system design through to project management. Projects were achieved to customer satisfaction on time and within budget using Agile techniques.

Project Managed the UK work share of the Eurofighter Computer Based Training development for ground and aircrew personnel. This is a complex (£5M) project involving four nations and uses Prince 2 methodology. Responsible for all aspects of the project including costs, risks, production and delivery schedules. By introducing customer workshops in the development phase, increasing the team’s appreciation of the customers’ requirements, and improving production efficiency significantly increased the first time acceptance rate of courseware whilst reducing costs. Successfully forced progress in stalled areas by establishing strong relationships with all stakeholders and establishing mutually beneficial working practices. Also involved with specification of future VEGA project which require full SCORM compliance
