CV

The above is what I believe makes a excellent employee and I believe that I fit the above description. With experience and a vast knowledge of many aspects of the I.T. environment I can confidently say that I can deal with almost any situation, positive or negative, and make it work in a positive way. I have experience in development of windows based applications, web based applications, linux based scripting and CGI scripting. Hands on experience with setting up various server technologies including windows and Linux distributions, handling web requests, database requests, mail requests, dns requests and more. Whilst being hands on I have still been able to effectively manage the technical team and meet deadlines for my projects, which includes remote workers in the U.K. and also remote workers based in the USA after organising and being physically active in setting up a Data Centre in America.

My drive and ambition for success is what I believe will make me a success in many environments now and in the future.

Employment History

(Oct 2002 to Jul 2008)

Technical Director / Programmer

Barnstaple

I was previously involved with a internet based company developing existing websites and
expanding them further. I was involved within this company on different levels, one as a
programmer, developer, database admin, network admin, and general anything technical.
Two as a director of the company and ensuring the technical department runs efficiently.

Not only has this position enabled me to develop my managerial skills to an effective
level but it has allowed insights into expanding into USA. Being responsible for the
planning, organisation and setting up of a data centre has taught many valuable lessons
on timing, planning and fault minimisation as we had only 10 days to do it in.

Aspects of this position also include marketing, understanding and creating procedure
to ensure the effectiveness of all actions so that confusion and mistakes are at a
minimum but when they do occur the impact is low and rectified promptly.

Content control was a high priority as some of the major sites we worked on had to be manageable through their own systems and easy so I spent time developing these to make sure that time can be used efficiently.

(Sep 2002 to Oct 2002)

Incoming Call Center Member

Barnstaple

My role at GMP Communications was mainly as a incoming call centre member. This

Career Development (contd)
involved taking calls from various people of the public and processing orders and up selling
products as they come available.

There was no direct selling but there were always opportunities to sell extra products.

GMP was based on shift work and operated 24 hours a day so there was always flexibility
needed. Near the end of my employment I started to get involved in the technical side with
their database application, mainly Access in a client server environment. Most skills used in
this position were communication over the phone.

(Aug 2001 to Jul 2002)

Programmer

Next Gen Computing, Exeter

I worked for Nextgen Computing as a Delphi Software Developer, creating software specifically
aimed towards the travel industry. The software produces reports, Submission requests for a
number of large companies and credit card companies. It retrieves the data using SQL and an
Interbase Database and various other technologies.

Also my role involved trouble shooing for email, Domain problems, User management and
various other aspects. Before I left the company I was working on a client server application
to replace the current application which I also worked on which had various uses within itself.

My job also included helping customers when they ring up with problems and guiding them
through how to perform functions within the application.

(Mar 2001 to Aug 2001)

Help Desk Analyst

Manpower ( British Telecom), Exeter

I worked for BT during this period as a IT Analyst.. We would try to solve BT workers
computers problems for them. They would ring up with a problem and we would talk them
through fixing the problem or use remote access applications to solve the problems. This was
only a temporary job and is the reason I moved on.

During my time there I helped to solve many sorts of problems ranging from hardware to
software, how to remove passwords, how to speed up the computer. This job covered almost
all aspects of computers. My main success was when I was awarded a bottle of wine for
extra effort and helping senior staff with their problems that didn't fall into my realm but
didn't give up and solved the issue

(Jul 2000 to Apr 2001)

Web Developer

Granite Internet, Bideford

Writing web applications/web sites, Creating and maintaining databases to support the web
applications in access and SQL Server. I have been using Cold Fusion to write these
applications. I also helped out setting up and maintaining the web server and applications
running on it.

During my time here I used all the above mentioned skills in a confident and successful way,
including Delphi which I created a couple applications for use with the office.
I mainly programmed websites using Cold Fusion Studio and graphics using Paint Shop Pro.
