I returned to a previous client to work on a programme to migrate a large financial institution over to a suite of new software products. I engaged with external customers to model business processes (for mortgage & loan account servicing) using UML, carried out gap analysis and requirements capture. I worked closely with the project manager in release planning, managing scope and change control. I worked with developers, testers and config teams to document system requirements in the form of user stories. I was involved in writing user acceptance tests and reviewing test scripts and I was also responsible for demonstrating new functionality to key stakeholders. I also set up and maintained the project wiki and document repository, hosted on MS Office SharePoint Server 2007.

Project to enable Mortgage Advisers to book appointments and enter mortgage and insurance applications with remote access to systems. I worked closely with the Project Leader, Solutions Architect and the various application teams who were responsible for almost 20 existing systems being used. I engaged with several internal departments to model business processes, ranging from the HR department to IT network/infrastructure to mortgage operations and finance departments. I documented system requirements using functional specifications and UML activity diagrams. Non-functional requirements such as user volumes, concurrency and performance were also key due to the remote connections to IT systems. I was also responsible for planning and tracking the IT implementation.

Working for a software house which develops products for financial institutions. I worked on various systems including a mortgage application processing system and an account management system. Key responsibilities were facilitation of requirements workshops, both for generic requirements and bespoke requirements for specific customers. I liaised with customers over the phone, visited customer sites and worked with internal customer proxies. I was responsible for producing functional specifications to meet customers’ needs and some projects used user stories and Agile methods. I was also involved in test-driven development using the Framework for Integrated Test (FIT). I worked with various roles across the full lifecycle, from end users to developers, testers and support teams. I assisted testers in the writing of acceptance tests and worked closely with project managers in release and iteration planning.

Working for an exam board which processes GCSEs and GCEs amongst others. I worked with internal customers and end users to carry out business process modelling and to analyse the business’ needs. Business processes were documented using UML (activity diagrams and business use cases). I facilitated requirements workshops and documented system requirements using use cases and functional specifications. Projects used an iterative approach, based on the Rational Unified Process (RUP). I worked closely with project managers in planning, with developers to estimate development costs, and with testers to review test scripts. I used the IBM Rational toolset to capture, model and track requirements, including RequisitePro, Software Modeller, Rose and ClearQuest.
