CV
| I have worked within the garment and footwear industry in the UK and abroad since leaving college and university. This work has encompassed freelance to employed. My knowledge has broadened immensely within this time and has given me considerable expertise in fashion/footwear and made me very confident and commercially aware. Over the last 12 years I have worked in exciting positions that have included design and fashion buying. Having worked within very busy clothing/footwear companies and buying departments I have been required to use my skills in leadership, management and problem solving on a daily basis. In addition to working to strict budgets, margins and deadlines. Through working in these sectors I have learned to deal with people at all levels in a confident, effective and professional way and have developed a deeper awareness of the market and consumer. I work very well as part of a team but am able to use my own initiative & delegate when required. My experience within the fashion industry has enabled me to understand the many stages from client liaison, initial ideas through to use of fashion predictions, marketing, quality control issues and price negotiation, which has given me an in-depth understanding of garment and footwear manufacturing processes. Due to this experience I can produce detailed design packs with technical specifications and details of fabrics and accessories in addition to graded measurement specs and provide suppliers with technical information. I have also been fortunate within my career to access many trade fairs, which has broadened my sourcing abilities effectively. This experience has made me more commercially aware of current trends, which have enabled me to undertake my role as a designer more efficiently. In addition to this I have very strong fabric and leather manipulation skills, extensive knowledge of practical pattern cutting in footwear and clothing, and illustrative skills that encompass freehand, technical and computer generated. I am able to create graphic prints and embroidery designs for clothing and footwear. I am proficient in PC and Mac formats including Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign, Microsoft Word, Excel, Coral Draw and Flash and have very good organisational skills. I am also competent at giving verbal and written presentations. Additionally I am fluent in German and Persian. I am now working primarily as a freelance fashion designer. I enjoy designing both formal and casualwear, I am versatile and can work on most types of garments including jerseys and wovens, denims, knitwear and accessories. I am most experienced with womenswear but I am also confident designing mens and childrens ranges. I am a very hard working individual with a passion for fashion/footwear & all its process. I have integrity, compassion, persistence, and willingness to continue understanding within the fashion/footwear industry. |
