| Student Adviser 2007 - 2008 As a Student Adviser, my work included: conducting interviews to discover whether the clients had any legal problems and if so, advising clients on their legal problems, Researching the area of law relevant to the client’s legal problems and applying the statutory and case law to the facts of the problems with a view to advising the client on the legal aspects of their problems. Drafting advice letters to clients under the supervision of a qualified Solicitor Maintaining good relationships between the clients and the Legal Advice Centre. Working as a student adviser has improved my research skills, my knowledge and appreciation of client confidentiality and my ability to maintain a professional appearance. It has also improved my interpersonal skills as I received training on interview skills and drafting letters from professional lawyers. I also received training on employment law issues which will be useful for working in an HR environment . Finally, being a student adviser improved my ability to balance my course work with my extra curricular activities and gave me a more practical understanding of how law affects us in our day to day life. The insights and analytical as well logical skills I have gained and improved on from doing this work are easily transferable and useful in the HR sector. I am a fast and willing learner and will be an asset to your organization while I am working for you. |
