Currently I am undertaking a short-term contract for Serco Education and Children’s Services as an Associate Consultant, working on large procurement bids. I was recently part of a team that won an @£30 million contract with the Department of Schools, Education and Families. Immediately before this, I worked for the charity 4Children as their Consultancy Bid Manager. I took leadership of a small team briefed to refresh policy and ensure delivery of bid strategy.
• Producing detailed weekly and monthly reports to the Deputy Chief Executive on key issues, trends, market development opportunities identified and any risks to the successful delivery of the work
• Coordinating bid writing to ensure all components of requirement are satisfied
• Writing the content when appropriate
• Assembling and formatting tender documents

Earlier this year, I worked as part of a team that designed and acquired accreditation from the University of Essex for a new online Criminal Justice Skills Foundation Degree, which will begin later this year; I have been invited to teach modules on ‘Terrorism Today’ and ‘Risk Assessment and Management’.

Previously I have worked on a number of project involving research, analysis and report writing for a variety of clients.
• The Association of Chief Police Officers: analysed the HMIC report ‘Closing the Gap’ and the produced detailed arguments against the proposed reform of the police service by the Home Secretary
• A small drugs charity, campaigning for the legalisation of class 1 drugs
• A research company: Undertaking a variety of small and large-scale projects

I have provided personal development advice and training to a number of police and fire services, including the Metropolitan Police Service, on subjects such as leadership skills, communication skills, research skills, security issues and women’s issues.

Executive Secretary and Editor

I managed the University’s largest membership organisation for four years; during that time I provided a way for my members to keep in touch with the University and the University a way of harnessing the support of its alumni.
• Supervised a staff of four and a worldwide body of volunteers
• Acted as ambassador of the Society inside and outside the University, involving regular public speaking
• Organised and reported to regular meetings of the Executive committee and the AGM
