I have worked for many years as a technical and business writer and editor for numerous international and national companies and more recently I have been using my writing experience to research and write web content. As a writer I have designed and written a wide range of documents including technical manuals, user guides, administration guides, ISO 9000 procedures, product training manuals and a variety of sales and promotional literature. For some of the projects I have been involved with I have also produced in-house style guides and more recently I wrote some web writing tips for users of the three community websites I managed. My web content writing work to date has involved researching and writing content for a Business Advice web site, a Property Investment website and a set of pages about Bruges for the travel section of an online magazine. I am also a regular contributer to a web content site.

In this role I managed three community websites for three district councils in Oxfordshire. The purpose of the websites was to enable local voluntary and community groups to set up free websites and so I was responsible for managing, marketing and publicising each website and encouraging the use of each website by organising and running training workshops and providing ongoing support. I also wrote all the publicity and promotional materials, researched and wrote the content for local information web pages and wrote the copy for press releases and local council and community publications.

In this role I ran IT courses for older people, people in rehab, homeless people and travellers. I developed and designed beginners courses based on different Microsoft Office products and I wrote accompanying student notes. I also ran a number of sessions on using the internet to do family history research.
