CV
| With several years’ experience on a diverse range of accounts, there are few challenges I haven’t met, and no deadlines I’ve come even close to missing. That’s because I’m fast, efficient and dependable, happy to get down to detail, yet able to come up with imaginative concepts when required. Eminently flexible, I’m prepared to work in-house or from my own PC, whichever is most convenient for you. And, whether working as part of a team or strictly on my own initiative, I stay cool in a crisis, yet burn the midnight oil to see things through. Web sites, corporate, B2B and direct mail are specialities, while I’ve written countless brochures for clients as diverse as the CWS, Farécla, Pinnacle psg, Peninsula Business Services, Möben, and Dolphin Bathrooms. Plenty of editorial stuff too, including newsletters, features and case studies, along with press ads, POS, TV, radio commercials and everything you’d expect of a genuine heavyweight. In short, I’m a solid all-rounder who makes sense of the ridiculous and light work of the heaviest briefs with compelling, readable copy. As for my rates – let’s not mince words here – they’re so competitive, you can hardly afford not to give me a try! So if you need someone to fill in the gaps from time to time, just give me a call. I’m available at short notice to visit you with my portfolio and discuss your needs. |

COPYWRITING
| 2003 - Present Recent and current work includes websites, brochures and mailings for several accounts, namely Farécla Limited, manufacturers of surface polishing for automotive and marine industries (brochure); Simply Image (website); Peninsula Business Services (BusinessWise website and brochure); and Pinnacle Public Services (website and brochure). Also work regularly for graphic designers and website specialists throughout the North, such as the Allen Design Group and Deviate Design. I also produce case studies on a regular basis for an ICT marketing company in Glossop. In 2005, I worked in-house for BCMB Pilkington Speyer in Manchester, on accounts such as Dolphin Bathrooms, Möben Kitchens, Sharps Bedrooms, GlynWebb, Wolseley, Unifix and Able2Buy, producing copy for brochures, posters and mailings along with concepts for TV commercials. In 2003, I joined the Orchard Agency in Manchester as a freelance writer, working on a broad base of accounts for Donohue Associates in Southport, Black Sheep Advertising in Chester, McCann-Erickson of Prestbury, BDH/TBWA in Didsbury, and 3Sixty Media Limited at Granada Studios. Projects include TV scripts for Leerdammer Cheese, plus newsletters and brochures for Nissan featuring Micra and Pathfinder models. 2000 - 2003 During this period, I worked for Brunnings Advertising in Mobberley on direct mail accounts - mainly, Heather Valley, Sartor and Bury Boot and Shoe catalogues, and Sewills, suppliers of limited edition timepieces and other collectibles. I also wrote for the Naturally Yours brochure, which involved considerable research into general health and alternative products such as Bach Flower Remedies, as well as general vitamin and mineral supplements. 1990 - 2000 Produced a lot of material for Oldham Chamber of Commerce, including tourist brochures, scripts for various Award presentations (for example, Lifelong Learning), and Annual General Reports. I also helped devise the student curriculum for Oldham College. Other clients during this period included Lorraine Rowland Design, the Blue Banana Advertising Agency, and several small businesses who needed help with brochures, leaflets and local advertising. 1984 - 1990 As a first time mother in 1984, I gave up regular employment but continued to work for Capra Limited (see below) for several years on a freelance basis, widening my experience with other agencies, such as Wilsons, Wing Advertising, and ADS. My journalist skills were put to use the mid-80’s by Macclesfield Business Services (Link) who commissioned me to write various articles on satisfied clients. This involved contacting, interviewing and following-up all the small businesses concerned. 1980 - 1984 Worked full-time as copywriter for Capra Limited, the in-house advertising agency for the CWS in Dantzig Street, Manchester. In addition to press ads and scripts, I produced many feature articles, along with brochures, leaflets and related material for the food and non-food divisions, plus subsidiary companies including CWS Architects, Co-op Bank, Travel, Opticians, Funerals, Car hire and individual Societies. It was during my time here that I gained experience in almost every aspect of retail advertising and promotion. Prior to joining Capra, I worked for CAS in Didsbury, producing a regular newsletter for drivers of DAF Trucks. Another outlet for this particular skill was Jacqmotte Coffee on behalf of a PR agency, Wordsmiths of Wilmslo |
