Having run my own design consultancy for 17 years I have now gone freelance.
I started Interactive Design in 1991 mainly because of a desire to work with the emerging Apple Mac computer systems. I could see that this was going to be the future of design and artwork in graphics.
Interactive Design specialised in Design for Print, Branding and Web Design, producing a wide range of brochures, annual reports, leaflets, newsletters, corporate id and multi-media projects.
Clients include: Edinburgh Convention Bureau, NHS Education for Scotland, NBS, HEBS, RCN, Scottish Sports Council, Bartholomew, Macfarlan Smith, Dundas & Wilson and Common Services Agency.
My various roles include:
• Design, artwork and production of all graphic design, website and exhibition design
• CD-Rom and DVD production
• Presenting design solutions to clients
• Art direction/Commissioning photography
• Commissioning illustration/graphics
• Copy editing and proof reading
• Print production and quality control
• Procuring quotes from suppliers
• Liaising with clients and suppliers
• Estimating and invoicing all artwork/design and print
• Maintaining and updating all Apple Macs, hardware and software
• Main software used: Acrobat, Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, ImageReady, Quark, Freehand, Freeway,
Word, Excel, Toast.
