CV

I have spent the last 14 years working on a number of different types of projects in different fields and with diverse teams of people. Many of the projects involve co-ordinating the work of teacher educators, with designers and programmers, with my principle role being that of ensuring that the work is completed on time and within budget but yet is innovative, directly supports the curriculum, and can be readily used by teachers and pupils. This demands a detailed understanding of classroom practice, and an involvement with children and teachers in the design of the resources.

Of late, a number of the research projects that have engaged me have been about the practical implementation of new policies and strategies led by the Government. Understanding how these official documents are interpreted by schools, and what support teachers need in order to implement them, has resulted in the creation of a number of resources that both stimulate and guide teachers through the sometimes conflicting messages that they have received. This leads also to a clear understanding of the need to implement policies that can be personalised to meet the needs of individual school contexts, strengths and circumstances. It also leads to skills in interpreting and synthesising a range of documents to draw conclusions and make recommendations.

The result of many of these projects is in terms of both presented strategic recommendations, written reports designed to mee the needs of a specific audience, and also summary documents for a wider audience.
