CV
| Education: Hertford Grammar School . 10 GSE ‘O’ Levels . 3 GSE ‘A’ Levels University of London . BSC Pharmacology (P1) EMPLOYMENT HISTORY Managing Director, January 2007 – Present I set up my company in early 2007 to concentrate on providing business consultancy to hotels, inns, restaurants, outside caterers and pubs in the Sussex region, and also for some existing large projects undertaken for the UAE Royal family in Abu Dhabi and London. I also undertake consultancy work for ‘Business Link’ in Sussex to conduct business reviews for local companies (mainly in the technology and leisure industries) on behalf of Sussex Enterprise. To date, I have completed over 60 assignments which have resulted in the provision of coaching, advice and comprehensive reports giving suggestions on how each business may generate additional revenues through sales and marketing techniques, reduce costs through less wastage, better purchasing and sustainability programs. Each client contracts for a follow up after a number of weeks to review the agreed action plan, and thereafter an annual review to confirm the business improvements that have been achieved. Sole owner, Best Beech Inn - Wadhurst June 2002 – December 2006 In June 2002, I purchased a 17thcentury coaching inn in East Sussex, since my previous company, Demica, was sold to one of our clients (J. Huber USA), and the company was taken over by the new parent’s board of directors. I decided at his stage to bring forward and fulfil my long-standing ambition to create a first class inn/restaurant nearer to my home. The Inn was run down, selling basic food and losing £75,000 a year. Within 4 years, I completely re-furbished the letting rooms, brought over 3 French chefs from France, created 2 fine dining restaurants, and eventually doubled the turnover to £400,000 whilst halving the staff costs. During my ownership, I was awarded the AA red rosette for the two restaurants, and various independent inspectors awarded the hotel with ‘Best Country Inn in Wealden’, WHICH magazine’s ‘Good Food Guide’ and ‘Best Pub Guide’ Alastair Sawday’s ‘Special Places – English Inns’ guide, Alasdair Ayrd’s ‘Best English Inn Guide’ and was the only inn in East Sussex to be recognised for the ‘Distinctive Country Inns’ promotion by the Tourism South East (Visit Britain) I had also been running a number of part time external consultancy projects during my time at the Best Beech including part time acting Managing Director of Neptune Software, and provided advice to several start-up businesses in Sussex. I subsequently decided to concentrate on full-time senior management/consultancy roles. Consequently, I sold the business and freehold premises in December 2006 and set up BPI Ltd. in early 2007. Director of Sales and Consultancy, Demica plc August 1999 - February 2002 I joined the board of Demica in August 1999, when the company was still a very new venture with only one development partner signed up, and little exposure to the market. Demica’s product, CITADEL, is a well thought out innovative financial architecture, designed to handle the risks and flows of investment banks and large corporate institutions. In the first 12 months, I hired a sales and sales support team, implemented a new sales methodology which provided discipline to the sales process, with clear monitoring and forecasting. I also introduced the sales team and company to selling solutions with emphasis on the business value rather than pure ‘feature function’. Over the next two years, the team was successful in winning significant business in both the banking and corporate sectors. Names contracted included Bank One, Deutsche Bank, Siemens Financial Services, Burhmann, Banco Comercial Portuguese, SCA Finans, Gerling, J Huber and St.George’s Bank. The company was sold to J Huber in 2002 Partner, MPCT Solutions Corporation October 1989 - August 1999 I joined Internet Systems Ltd (now renamed mpct Solutions) in 1989 as Vice President Europe and subsequently took responsibility for Europe, Middle East and Asia Pacific (approximately 130 staff) helping grow the business over 10 years, to revenues of approximately USD 70m with over USD 9m in profits In 1990, I headed up ‘Internet Consulting Services’ (ICS), a joint venture between Internet and Volmac NV (large Dutch Consulting Group) to aggressively expand Internet’s professional services business from 10 to 90 staff - which grew revenues n excess of USD 40m. ICS became 100% owned by Internet in 1991. Opened Dubai office in 1992 with early success, signing Riyad Bank and Kuwait Finance House in 12 months. Personally negotiated several major global contracts over the last 6 years including NatWest (USD 8m), ABN Amro (USD 9m), Societe Generale (USD 7m), Deutsche Bank (USD 9m) and Rabobank (USD 5m).
