1997 to present Design Manager

Gravatom Engineering Systems Ltd

Responsible for the day to day management of a multi-disciplined design team comprising Senior Engineers, Engineers, Designers and Design Draughtsman. Management tasks include resource allocation, recruitment, staff and procedural development.

Maintaining a significant technical input across all projects in the undertaking of technical reviews and tender evaluation/estimating, as well as assuming principal engineer role on more technically demanding projects.

Recent projects include Type II Anaerobic Pharmaceutical Isolators, ICP Optical Emission Spectrometer significantly re-engineered for a Nuclear Containment application.

1995 to 1997 Senior Engineer (Projects)

Gravatom Engineering Systems Ltd

Undertaking design and project management for Nuclear and commercial automation projects, for clients including Nuclear Electric/British Energy Remote Operations, BNFL Springfields, Amersham International and Autoliv Havant.

1994 to 1995 Senior Engineer - Nuclear Transport Packaging

Gravatom Engineering Systems Ltd

Undertaking design, and evaluation of nuclear transport and storage packaging. Compiling safety cases, calculations, and test reports for RAMSCAP and RAMPTAP submission. Undertaking all environmental testing for the company. Project management of all packaging manufacturing projects.

1993 to 1994 Engineer

Gravatom Philips Ltd

Undertaking project management and design work for Nuclear Electric Remote Operations and BNFL Decommissioning.

Significant projects include In-Reactor Repair manipulator for Sizewell A Power Station, design development of a lightweight Single Action Crimp Shear Tool for BNFL.

1990 to 1993 Gravatom Projects Ltd

Joined as a Design Draughtsman but was promoted to Engineer after 18 months. Involved in design and development projects for clients including AEA Dounreay, AEA Harwell, BNFL Springfields, BNFL Sellafiled, CBDE Porton Down, ILL Grenoble and Nuclear Electric Remote operations. Many of the projects were for decommissioning tooling and equipment.

Gravatom Projects went into liquidation in October 1993.

1988 to 1990 Design Draughtsman

Techwork Southampton Ltd

Involved in mechanical design and detail draughting for clients including AWE Aldermaston, CEGB, Dasic Marine, AEA Winfrith.

Studied to HND level on a day release basis.

1984 to 1988 Vero Precision Engineering

Mechanical Technician Apprenticeship cover all aspects of manufacturing production, test and inspection. Final year in design office working on cnc machine tool and nuclear manipulator designs.

Studied to HNC level on a day release basis.
