September 1979 to present day.

Pix Electrical Company Ltd:

Joined Pix Electrical Company in 1979. The company manufactured motor control panels, instrument and PLC control panels and was involved in the manufacture and installation of level control equipment in hazardous areas.

Purchased control of the company in May 1994. Became responsible for developing the existing business, expanding into electrical cabling installations and gaining membership of The Electrical Contractors Association. The main areas of work included petrochemical industries, water utilities and more recently, food handling industries.

Mainly involved in the electrical design and engineering of control panels and electrical systems but duties covered tendering, contract negotiation, project management, testing and commissioning. In addition, I was responsible for human resources, financial accounting, customer relations and the cost effective running of the entire operation.

Completed a full six year apprenticeship progressing within the Simon Group, ultimately to Simon Container Machinery as a draughtsman.

Supply and installation of motor control and PLC panels and the associated cabling of drives to new powder handling equipment at Mars Foods and Cadbury's.

Project - Shanks Chemical Services - LBV Neutralisation Plant - Liverpool

Supply and installation of motor control and PLC panels and the associated cabling to drives for a new Tank Farm control system. The scheme comprised of tank radar and capacitive level instrumentation linked to the plant PLC instrument panel providing local control and interlock facilities for plant drives, alarm and instrument monitoring functions.

The supply and installation of new motor control panels and also the refurbishment of existing panels for a chemical plant expansion.
