Cast Iron Replacement

I was employed as a Project Engineer within the team responsible for the replacement of the cast iron pipework. This required that the work be carried out safely, on time, to plan and cost.

I had to ensure that the work packages contained the correct Isometrics, Engineering Line Diagrams, GA's, PIDs, and operational system diagrams. Work had to meet with current legislation e.g. HASWA, PUWER, LOLA, CDM.

I was also responsible for the replacement of the Dump Steam Condenser Pipework. Included checking pipework for defects.

The System Health Monitoring Team is concerned with the development and implementation of an asset management system to improve availability, reliability and maintenance of plant with the overall objective to extend the operational life of the station.

Another aspect of the project is to maximise the maintenance budget by establishing systems that spend the money most effectively.

Graphite Core Project Team is concerned with the state of the Nuclear cores within the AGR fleet. During the operation the core ages. This aging process has to be monitored and assessed on a regular basis to maintain both operational and nuclear safety.

Building Services Department

While in the Building Services Department I carried out the following work;

· Design development of ventilation systems in accordance with industry accepted codes of practice;

· Heat transfer and energy balance calculations;

· Production of ventilation flow diagrams and general arrangement drawings;

· Effects of modifications on ventilation code compliance;

· Technical specification production for Building Services systems, Plant and components;

· Method statements and risk assessments.
