June 2004 - Present Butterley Engineering Ltd - Estimator

In June 2004 I was offered the position of estimator at Butterley

Engineering Ltd and my key responsibilities can be summarised as follows:

* Operating the 'Go Job Data' estimating package

* Production of estimates and budgets for large heavy gauge fabrications

* Liasing directly with customers and suppliers at all levels

* Checking implications of specifications and customer requirements

* Production of contract reviews

In October 2003, the Meade Corporation took over Thyssen Engineering and the

company name changed to Butterley Engineering Ltd, however the current basic

structure remains the same.

May 2002 - June 2004 Thyssen Engineering Ltd - Draughtsman

Thyssen Engineering Ltd was part of the multi-national Thyssen Group, they

specialised in the production of large fabrications for the offshore oil and

gas industries. I was offered this position after attaining my Advanced

Modern Apprenticeship in fabrication and welding, I found this "on the job"

training very advantageous with my transition to the drawing office. My key

responsibilities for this role can be summarised as follows:

* Producing detail drawings using AutoCAD 2004

* Producing 3D concept designs for clients using AutoCAD 2004

* Liasing directly with customers at all levels

* Providing technical support to the workshops

* Production of CNC nests using the 'Nestlite' nesting system

* Solving design queries

June 1999 - May 2002 Thyssen Engineering Ltd - Plater and Welder

After completion of my Advanced GNVQ I was offered my first position at

Thyssen Engineering Ltd as an apprentice plater and welder, this experience

has been invaluable in the development of my career in Engineering. Whilst

working in the workshops I produced many fabrications, using skills learnt

on the job and at college. This enabled me to complete my Advanced Modern

Apprenticeship, and was accredited with the ASME IX and BS EN 287/8 coded

welding approval. I was also trained to operate the twin head CNC

oxy-profile gas cutting equipment, with a Burny 2.5 head unit.
