Primarily responsible for at-elbow support of 50+ Catia V5 & V4 users. Escalate issues to IBM as appropriate. Developed CAD model and drawing standards, working procedures, best practice methods and quick reference guides. Maintained database to enable identification of common or repeat issues, and recommended subsequent corrective actions. Coordinated user training and key-user workshops. Also responsible for Unix system administration and CAD data transfer to/from suppliers. Completed CAD user-acceptance testing and liased with developers to establish custom configured DMU capability and batch clash management tools.

Member of the team responsible for Digital Mockup (DMU) development for A380 and A400M aircraft. Extended concurrent engineering usage within design and manufacturing departments. Represented Airbus UK in three (led two) trans-national projects with European partners. Responsible for the introduction of systems installation "picture drawings" (conventional HLR views replaced by DMU images) saving over 1M Euro/year. Developed DMU human simulation capability and responsible for user-acceptance testing of CAD tools. Wrote CAD procedural and methodology documentation and delivered related user training. Marconi Command and Control Systems Ltd. Frimley, Surrey

Mechanical Resources and CAE Engineer Nov. 1993 - Oct. 1996

Resourced 14 Designers and 7 CAE workstations, produced project proposals and workload estimates, design layouts and detailing of complex electro-mechanical components/assemblies for projects including; tank-mounted thermal imaging sight, rugged military laptop, digital switching systems and a drug "sniffing" sensor. Also integrated a microfilm scanner into the Design Office; created operational procedures and wrote scripts to record and register all drawings scanned from holerith details. This resulted in the electronic capture of legacy drawings and vacated valuable office space through the removal of manual drawings file storage.

Mechanical Design Team Leader Sep. 1991 - Nov. 1993

Led a team of electro-mechanical engineers designing Osiris sighting system and gunner's monitor for Tiger helicopter. Created design specifications and layouts, liased with sub-contractors and French customer and generated drawings for complex components and assemblies. Designed, developed and tested prototypes to optimise design. Utilised Finite Element Modelling & Analysis tools to optimise design solutions, which achieved stringent mass and inertia constraints, resulting in £0.5M bonus award to Marconi.

Senior Mechanical Draughtsman Sep. 1985 - Sep. 1991

Created CAD design layouts, details, assemblies and associated BOMs and wiring documentation of defence and civil equipment including; hand-held thermal imagers, radar systems, microwave components, mines, fuses and data entry devices in accordance with BS308, BS3939 and DEF STAN 05-10. Other activities included; CAD system development, customisation, operational procedures, user training, first-line support for other users, macro and script writing and CNC tool path generation. As a shift leader, produced daily and weekly backups of CAD database.

Trained in CADDS3 during September 1980 & CADDS4 in September 1984.

Trainee Draughtsman- Completed 2 years training programme incorporating 1 year in design office and 1 year in manufacturing and electrical workshops. Investigated engineering change requests and updated product documentation in PDS environment.
