Employed in the Telecommunications section within Europe, Africa and Asia-Pacific Division. Based in the UK, reporting to the Network Planning and Technology director, with a wide range of responsibilities including:
· Leading all UMTS design activities ensuring timely delivery of quality designs to Bechtel's clients.

After three international secondments with Vodafone Global, returned to Vodafone UK to the position of RAN System Design and Optimisation Manager Responsible for GSM/GPRS design and optimisation and UMTS strategic planning and acceptance. Met all main key business objectives:
· Delivery of the best network for Quality of Service for voice and data services in the UK.
· Maximising GSM spectrum efficiency and utilisation.
· Increasing the radio network capacity with traffic management techniques minimising capacity investment.
· Delivering techniques to manage the end-to-end Quality of Service for Circuit Switch and Packet Switch (GPRS) services.
· Design and tuning of the UMTS (3G) Network.
· Delivering a nationwide UMTS design and optimisation strategy.
· Evaluating UTRAN upgrades and providing vendors with specification of feature requirements.
Achievements:
· Vodafone named by OFTEL as the best network for Quality of Service in the UK.
· Network Drop Call rate (DCR) of 0.9%. The lowest since records begun.
· Call Completion Success Rate (CCSR) of 98.7% as measured from drive testing by the QA department.
· Substantially increased GPRS throughput to 32kb/s or better for 90% of the cells during GPRS BH.
· Won the "Team of the month" award for the innovative way of spectrum utilisation to provide the required capacity for the Common Wealth games that took place in Manchester in August 2002.
September 2000 to May 2002 - Head of Radio Planning & Optimisation -
International secondment to Vodafone Malta (Siemens System)
Seconded to Vodafone Malta as a member of a small team of experts to assist the Maltese company in its transition from monopoly to competition. Achieved all key objectives namely: to increased the network capacity, improved Quality of Service, defined Network KPIs, developed performance management tools, rolled out GPRS and trained local staff ensuring that the company develops and maintains expertise.
Achievements:
· Succeeded in making Vodafone Malta one of the best performing of all Vodafone Group networks. Achieved a Network Dropped Call Rate of only 0.70% and good distribution of traffic load. There were no cells with congestion greater 2% during the Busy Hour, despite a 200% increase in subscriber base from September 2000 to December 2001.
· Managed the successful launch and tuning of GPRS.
· Defined and implemented Network Key Performance Indices and statistical formulae for evaluation of the Quality of Service inline with Vodafone Global Performance benchmarking process.
· Defined the Spectrum Management and Frequency planning strategy.
· Created a technical library of Engineering Documents and procedures to be used as guidelines for Radio Network design and Performance Management.
· Developed tools for Network Parameter Consistency checking and Statistical Analysis.
· Undertook a leading role in the 3G cross-functional projects with Operations, Core Networks, IT and Marketing for deployment of UMTS.
