Contracted to GEC-Marconi, the Astute Prime Contractor, supporting the safety aspects of the platform and propulsion systems design. These included: steam systems, water cooling systems, hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems, reactor support systems and ship hotel services. Safety advice to system designs, attendance at Design Reviews. Specification of Sub-contract work and liaison with sub-contractors, vetting sub-contractor's submissions, acceptance or rejection of sub-contract work. Contracted to Rolls Royce Marine Power, Derby, responsible for the: translation of research and investigative reports into plant operating documentation, identification of boundaries and operating limits, training requirements and analysis of the safety implications for the plant and individual systems. Contracted to BAE SYSTEMS Marine Ltd, Deputy to the Astute Platform Safety Manager responsible for compilation and management of the Safety Program for all aspects of the Safety Case within BAE SYSTEMS responsibility. Interfaced with the PCO Safety Manager passing information and co-ordinating safety plans. Additionally, provided support and advice to the Platform Safety Case, including interfacing information and designer's checklists for safety compliance. Prepared original analytical process and procedural documents to support the staged development of the safety management system as well as defining the technical data requirements for the Safety Case, including specification of system safety functions, zonal hazard assessments and compilation of staged safety case documentation.
