Work Experience

Oct 1998 to present Instrument Technician / Maintenance Supervisor on FPSO "Haewene Brim" operating in the Pierce Field for Shell. Employed as part of the maintenance team and initially involved in the final stages of construction and commissioning leading up to first oil. Carrying out routine and breakdown maintenance on fire and gas detection systems, process control and process safety systems and marine systems in accordance with Pierce maintenance management system. Acting as stand in maintenance supervisor while personnel were on secondment to onshore projects and for sickness absence.

March 96 to Oct 98 Instrument Technician/Senior Instrument Technician on FPF "Northern Producer" operating in the Galley Field. Initially employed as part of a small stacking crew carrying out general maintenance. Involved with assisting contractors during modifications in shipyard and commissioning of new equipment leading up to first oil. In charge of a small team of Instrument Technicians carrying out routine and breakdown maintenance on fire and gas detection systems, process control and process safety systems and marine systems.

Nov 95 to March 96 Maintenance Supervisor on "Emerald Producer" North Sea floating production facility, employed by Midland & Scottish Resources, Aberdeen.

In charge of multi-discipline maintenance team carrying out repair and PM work on all process and utilities equipment.

Nov 91 to Nov 95 Lead Instrument Technician on "Emerald Producer" for Midland and Scottish Resources. Responsible for running the Instrument Department, reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor. Restbury ESD system, Wormald fire and gas, Solar turbine-driven generator, gas lift compressors and water injection pump, Natco process skids with Masoneilan, Valtek, Foxboro and Rosemount Instrumentation.

Sept 90 to Sept 91 Lead Instrument Technician on "Dulang B" offshore oil production installation in the South China Sea, for Petronas Carigali SDN BHD, Malaysia.

Responsible for running the Instrument Department and on-job training of national staff. Rosemount System 3 DCS control system, Allan Bradley shutdown system, Thorn EMI fire and gas panel, Fisher process instrumentation.

Dec 85 to Aug 90 Instrument Supervisor/Maintenance Supervisor on "Duyong" offshore gas production complex in the South China Sea, for Exploration and Production Services Ltd, Reading.

Responsible for running the Instrument Maintenance Department and on-job training of national staff. Honeywell TDC 2000 platform monitoring system and Solar gas turbine generators.

April 85 to Sept 85 Instrument Technician at an onshore oil/gas production in Egypt, for Exploration and Production Services.

Maintenance and repair of process instrumentation and commissioning of new plant.

Jan 84 to March 85 Instrument Technician on "Tartan A", North Sea oil and gas production platform, for Exploration and Production Services.

Aug 82 to Dec 83 Instrument Technician at "Sirikit" onshore oil production station in Thailand, for Exploration and Production Services.

June 81 to June 82 Instrument Technician at BNOC Nigg Terminal, for OMISCO Instrumentation. Loop checking and commissioning; Honeywell field instrumentation and Honeywell TDC 2000 control system. Also worked on tanker loading arm hydraulic control systems and tanker jetty firefighting and shutdown systems.

Aug 79 to Aug 80 Instrument Technician at Osprey Electronics, Wick.

Installing computer monitoring systems for offshore installations. Installing wiring interfaces between existing relay logic control systems and computer marshalling boxes. Also building, wiring, installation and commissioning of load shedding control consoles operating existing electrical switchgear.

Dec 75 to July 79 Instrument Technician on various fixed platform and floating oil production installations (Argyll and Montrose oil fields) for Exploration and Production Services. Maintenance and repair of oil process instrument (Foxboro, Kent, Fisher, Rosemount). Crude oil metering skids (Kent), gas turbines (Solar), fire and gas, pneumatic/hydraulic control panels for subsea and surface wellheads, air compressor and dryer skids.

Aug 70 to Dec 75 Apprentice Instrument Mechanic at Dounreay Nuclear Power Development Establishment, employed by United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority.

Four year apprenticeship and one year as shift Instrument Mechanic, carrying out maintenance and repair to instrumentation and equipment associated with a nuclear power station.
