Materials Controller

Site Materials Controller for Rabigh Refinery Expansion (Utilities and Offsites Umbrella). The Project, on the Red Sea coast 150KM north of Jeddah, is an ARAMCO and Sumitomo Chemical Co. Joint Venture for production of polyethylene and polypropylene derivatives, ethylene oxide and ethylene glycol, incorporating steam and power generation, flare systems and air, water and effluent treatment.
Duties:- Prepare and furnish Warehouse and Pipeyard storage facilities for 3 site stores locations. Receipt, storage and issue of: H.V., M.V. & L.V. cable and accessories; pumps, motors; switchgear & transformers; metering equipment; tankage; pipe (appx. 25,000 tonnes), fittings, flanges and valves ranging ½” thru 80" dia. covering a materials range of CS, LTCS, NACE, GALV., Cr.Mo., Stainless, cement lined and GRP. Materials admin. using FW SMILE Inventory and Logistics Control System. Overseeing daily activities of storekeepers, equipment operators (50 T. crane & forklifts) and labourers of local (Saudi), Filipino, Pakistani and Indian origin.

Engaged with the Kestrel Project Team constructing major extension to Dubai Aluminium Company's (DUBAL) Jebel Ali smelter complex and port alumina handling facility.
Duties: Interface with Dubal logistics department who provided updates of imminent Project materials air and sea freight deliveries. Supervision of materials movements in Project laydown yards and warehouse. Direct the daily activities of local (UAE), Filipino and Indian storekeepers/ forklift drivers and lifting operations performed using 50T. mobile crane and crew. Implementation of random stock checks; preparation of material status reports as required by Project procurement manager.

J&P (Overseas) Ltd, Tripoli, Libya

(Main Contractor: Civil, Mechanical, E&I).
Site Materials Controller for construction of Waha Oil Co.’s Faregh Production Station and Heating station "A": Crude stabilisation, gas compression & refrigeration, plus associated systems; Wellhead hook-ups -31; 4” & 6” flowlines; 12”, 16” & 24” Trunk lines and Heating Station.
Duties: Control of all Client (Waha) supplied (free issue) materials and equipment; establishing covered and laydown yard storage facilities. Supervision of materials personnel, operators and labourers. Co-ordinate and assemble materials requirements for major site piping spool fabrication programme. Also responsible for contractor (J&P) supplied materials used in project support, the project being situated in a remote Sahara desert location.

Assigned to Shell for Al Furat Petroleum Co’s Omar, Syria oilfield.
Duties: Supervision of warehousing and laydown yard activities, including receipt, storage and issue of line-pipe, process plant spares and equipment, drilling materials and bulk lube-oil and chemical consumables required for Central Production Facility and ancillary field operations/maintenance. Co-ordinate and supervise activities of local and foreign national storekeepers, dispatchers, equipment operators, drivers and labourers. Stock interrogation using Shell EMA 34 inventory control & logistics system

Employed by Manning Ltd, Stockton-on-Tees, U.K

Joined ICI Teesside Overhauls Group, who were responsible for planned shutdowns at the Wilton Petrochemical complex.
Duties: Providing procurement and materials control services including job-card take-offs, preparation of bulk purchase requisitions, setting up store facilities and receipt, storage and issue of engineering materials and spares. Restoration of client provided lay-down yard and storage facilities at shutdown completion.

Based initially in BK-W’s Teesside office providing expediting and support duties, including document control, for several construction projects. Subsequently assigned as site Materials Controller, Yemen, for construction of Jannah- Hunt Oil Co.’s Halewah production facility project.
Main responsibilities: Operation of BK-W’s SISCON computerised materials control & logistics system.
Schedule, pick and distribute Isometric material packages to fab.-shop and field users working to ANSI B31.3 & API 1104 coding standards.
Monitor all aspects of sub-contractor (Hawk) materials operations.
Regular reporting to Client of project materials status.
Interface with Procurement and Engineering teams in Teesside.

Pasco, Harrow, U.K

Seconded to Shell’s ‘Nelson’ project team, Teesside, (on behalf of Enterprise Oil) building the platform integrated deck & flare-boom.
Duties: Monitoring the fabrication yard materials section activities at Port Clarence & Tees Offshore base and co-ordinating /expediting piping bulks & major equipment orders (through John Brown & AMEC respectively).
Subsequently transferred to Dyce, Aberdeen, support base for platform hook-up & commissioning.
Main duties: co-ordination of materials requirements with offshore Materials Controller.
Scheduling the transportation of project materials with contract haulage company.
Goods inward inspection, certification & QC checks plus maintenance of traceability logs.
