EXPERIENCE

British Energy - Hartlepool Nuclear Power Station

Work Management Project - Data Assistant.

June 2002 - Present

My duties were to carry out an improvement exercise on all existing work management data held on the Indus PassPort Release 2 resource planning system and then the migration of all data to the new Indus PassPort Release 9. Further data was also extracted from plant Drawings and Documents as well as plant location details from site surveys covering the whole of the station.

All data was manipulated to a prepared specification so that it was compatible with the new software. I was able to do this by writing Quickscript programs to run batch files consisting of data downloaded from Passport via SQL statements and then added to data collected from various other sources. The data was then checked for any inaccuracies and then uploaded back into Passport. The migration process was fully documented at every stage so that the sequence of events could be fully demonstrated to the Nuclear Inspectorate. I also completed training to be appointed an Authorized Person for Safety Assessment (APSA). Further to this I was requested to join the Defect Reduction Team to carry out walk downs of the plant and carry out a consolidation and completion exercise on defect tags throughout the station.

Electronic Data Systems (EDS).

Technical Help Desk Agent.

Jan 2001 - June 2002

My duties were to provide technical support to corporate clients Rolls Royce and BP for a variety of computer systems and packages ranging from Network Systems, a full range of Microsoft packages and specialised in-house applications. This was achieved by the use of an automatic call distribution system called Aspect and a database logging system called Vantive.

I then progressed to second line duties which included the creation of Network and Remote Access Accounts, Outlook Express E-mail Accounts for BP clients and also granting users access to shared areas of the network restricted for general use.

StarTek Europe Ltd.

Technical Support Department - Technical Support Specialist.

Oct 2000 - Jan 2001

As part of a busy helpdesk my duties were to resolve technical problems encountered by end users of various computer systems which include all Microsoft products as quickly and efficiently as possible by phone, fax or e-mail. If this is not possible then resolution is achieved by the use of a computerised logging system called Clarify Front Office 98, which is used when appropriate to escalate the problem to a more senior level.

British Energy / Nuclear Electric - Sizewell B Nuclear Power Station.

Configuration Management Group - Modification Co-ordination Engineer.

Feb 1994 - Dec 1998

My responsibilities were the co-ordination, recording and tracking of all design changes to the power plant that produced modifications to documentation, station manuals & drawings.

This was done to ensure modifications were properly controlled and documented throughout all phases of design, review, approval, installation, commissioning, testing, training and implementation and that all station documentation was in line with the plant at all times to prevent loss of configuration.

I achieved this by creating a database tracking system using SAS (Statistical Analysis System) to monitor all stages of the process which in conjunction with the British Energy company wide work management system called PassPort gave a comprehensive monitoring process. I also used SQL to extract information from the companies numerous databases. Microsoft applications Office and Project along with Freelance Graphics were then used to produce progress reports for the weekly management meetings.

I initially joined the Power Projects Group during the construction of the plant as a Modification Co-ordination Engineer and became Lead Engineer in January 1996. I then subsequently joined the Operations Group as part of their modifications team on hand over of the plant.

Nuclear Electric - Booths Hall Knutsford Cheshire

Jan 1990 - Feb 1994

Assistant Engineer - Submission Co-ordination Section of the Licensing Department.

I worked on co-ordinating licensing commitments for Sizewell B Nuclear Power Station to the Nuclear Inspectors using databases such as the SAS (Statistical Analysis System) and AS (Application System) on a VM Mainframe Computer. Also the compilation of Contract Specification Documents using the Script facility on the VM Mainframe Computer and provided progress reports using WordPerfect.

Assistant Engineer - Operational Performance Group.

I Joined the Operational Performance Group to give technical support to the group and also to monitor and co-ordinate technical and specification commitments and operational information for the production of power station Operating Instruction Manuals. This was done by creating a database using the SAS (Statistical Analysis System) on the VM Mainframe Computer.

Piping / Mechanical Designer - Services Co-ordination Section.

My job entailed checking drawing office Medusa CAD output for piping, electrical cable trays, Instruments, H&V ductwork and embedment details. Also pipe support type and position for Sizewell B Nuclear Power Station.

M.D.A. Engineering Projects Limited, Northwich, Cheshire

Senior Piping / Mechanical Designer.

1989 - Jan 1990

I produced layouts and piping support detail drawings for the A.H.F. Offload and Storage Facility, Hex Plant for BNFL Springfield Works. I also produced building services co-ordination drawings including low pressure steam, condensate, compressed air and water for the above plant.

Costain Engineering Limited, Manchester

Piping / Mechanical Designer

1985 - 1989

I worked on projects for the nuclear industry at Costain and BNFL checking PDMS design output information and designing piping isometrics, pipe supports, pipe layouts, also mechanical and remote handling equipment for the THORP and MASWEP projects. I later joined the Petrochemical Division and worked on producing stress sketches, piping isometrics and arrangement drawings of ductwork and piping for the Flue Gas Desulphurisation Project, Drax Coal Fired Power Station.

I also worked on a Cryogenic Gas Separation Plant for Strandmollen Denmark.

National Nuclear Corporation, Warrington, Cheshire

Mechanical Design Draughtsman

1980 - 1985

I Produced detail and arrangement drawings for pipework, cooling circuit ductwork, mechanical handling equipment and insulation panelling on various projects including Heysham and Torness Nuclear Power Stations and B13, B30 and Pond 5 at Sellafield.

National Coal Board

Apprenticeship & Installation Engineer

1972 - 1979

I was employed at Easington and Seaham Collieries as an apprentice in Mechanical Engineering with training in various maintenance, installation and workshop duties. Then became an Installation Engineer for workshop fabrication of hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, pipelines, pumps and conveyors and their subsequent installation underground.
