Education
Sep 2001- Present Open University
Master of Engineering Degree (M'Eng)
Subjects studied this year include Personal and career development in Engineering, Engineering Mechanics: Solids and Fluids, and Failure of Stressed Materials.
1995-1997 Sheffield Hallam University
B'Eng (Honours) Mechanical Engineering.
Core Modules: Manufacture, Material, and Environmental Engineering, Fluid Mechanics, Numerical Modelling, Thermodynamics, CADCAM, Structural Integrity, Finite Element Analysis, Engineering Design, Engineering Dynamics.
Options Taken: Mechanics of Materials, Power Hydraulics, Energy Management, Business Studies and Accoustics.
Final Year Project: "The Finite Element Analysis of Backward Extrusion Forging Tooling." (In conjunction with Aurora Forgings, Sheffield.)
The project identified the stresses found in forging press tooling under load and identified the minimum safe thickness of the bottom die. The project allowed larger diameter forgings to be produced without expensive re-design of press base.
1993-1995 Sheffield Hallam University
HND Mechanical Engineering.
The course was passed with an overall grade of merit. Core subjects included: Engineering Mathematics, Thermodynamics,
Engineering Principles, Mathematics, Mechanical Science, and an Engineering Project.
1991-1992 Stradbrooke College, Sheffield.
BTEC First in Science.
Subjects studied included Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics.
