I have a BSc degree in Industrial Instrumentation Engineering(Process Control and Automation)and 22 years experience in the field, hands on.

I have experience in Petro-Chemical, Paper and Pulp, Steel and Open Cast Mining (water based) process control, amongst others. I am au fait with most PLC programs, including Allen Bradley, Texas, Mitshibushi, Modicon, Scada, Omron, Triconex and DCS's (Honeywell) as well as having a 16th Edition and 11Kv Switching Certificate.

I am experienced in loop checking and commissioning of projects on control systems with instrument and electrical interface.I have a wide experience in installations and maintenance of instrumentation in a variety of working environments.

Employed on a contract basis at Amersham PLC, a pharmaceutical company specializing in radioactive material for medical research and cure. Hold the position of Day Manager for Instrument, Electrical and HVAC personnel within the engineering department. Responsible for planned maintenance, engineering work requests ,breakdowns, project work and materials handling. Liaison with Principle and Planning engineers to ensure smooth operation of work flow which also includes outside contractors who are awarded the work.This is performed using the Maximo 5.2 CMMS, which has replaced the old Maximo 4.1.

Responsible for the quarterly, annual and salary reviews of the personnel in my department .Responsible for the maintenance of all plant rooms ,boiler houses and roof spaces and more important the on site sub-stations .Given the task to ensure that all plant process. i.e. gas, water, heating, steam, compressed air, ventilation and electricity are not interrupted as to affect the running of the site operation.All the Plc software on site and Plc packages,Allen Bradley,Modicon and Mitsubishi are controlled and monitored by myself and any upgrades or replacements are authorized by myself in conjunction with the specification of the plant process.

Responsible for up-keeping and general maintenance of existing installation and projects concerned.

Contract 01 December 1990 - 31 January 1991

Commissioning of the new Fuji and Yokogawa instruments for the "Hot Cut-Over" from the existing to the new system, situated at Caltex Oil Refinery in Cape Town. Also involved in the installation of Yokogawa PLC and DC drives. Loop checking and fault finding was a major priority with the work involved.

RAYCO INSTRUMENTATION

Contract 01 September 1990 - 31 October 1990

Worked at Richards Bay Minerals being involved in the maintenance of all industrial instruments on the Iron Injection, Slag and Regrind Plant. Involved in maintaining and operation of Modicon 190 PLC in the way of fault finding, replacing and repairing of input and output analogue cards.

Contract 02 April 1990 - 31 August 1990

Installed a new CO² Fire Alarm System at the new Richards Bay Minerals Computer Housing Complex. Wiring up of Dekeron Flexible Cable to each Smoke Detector, i.e. Optical and Ionisation. Wiring up of the Main Memory Control Panel, which branches out and receives signals from each self-addressed detector, i.e. Binary Code. Also wired the detonator panel for the release of CO² Gas.

Worked at Caltex Refinery in Cape Town for a Two-Month Shutdown. Responsible for Overhauling all Control Valves, Foxboro level Switches, i.e. Low, High, Trip Conditions. Removal of all redundant thermocouples on the furnaces and high vac. Units. Overhauling of Foxboro 12A Level Transmitters, Re-calibration and re-installation. Involved with the monitoring of Skin Thermocouples during the start-up of the furnaces concerned.

Contract 01 October 1989 - 25 January 1990

Contracted to the Usutu Pulp Mill situated in Swaziland for all the maintenance, calibrations and installations of the instrumentation on the drying plant. Involved with the installation of the new Honeywell T.D.C. 3000 Control Panel.
