CAREER SUMMARY

I returned to full time education to study B(Eng) Hons in Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering gaining a 2:1 Hons and receiving a Firth Brown Shop Steward award for excellence in manufacturing engineering.

In addition to my Beng (Hons), I have over four years experience being working within the engineering industry. I have been working at Mitsui Babcock for the last three yrs when I started out working as a graduate trainee mechanical engineer and worked towards a mechanical planning engineer. I have worked on various petrochemical shutdowns and power stations outages within UK. I have proficient use of spreadsheets and word processing and have a through knowledge of MS Project and Primavera P3 part of project management planning tools. I have had to be flexible and have gained a wide range of experience as my role has changed considerably. I possess good problem solving and communication skills and I am team player.

I work within the Engineering Construction/Fabrication industry as a Mechanical Planning Engineer within the Power and Petrochemical industry. My key responsibilities include training and supervision of labour, cost and critical path analysis, in addition to monitoring and updating all contract programmes by regular discussions with site engineers and subcontractors' representatives. Also monitor and report status accurately to the Site Manager.

I have field experience in Pharmaceutical Construction new build and maintenance outages on Petrochemical Sites and Coal fire Power Station.

I have progressed within my field and I now follow the job through initial project planning stages. This involves preparing the works shutdown programme for the start of the project, which ultimately results in monitoring the project and reporting the progress to the client and contractor.

I am a self-motivated professional able to motivate the team and run projects at a senior level for both construction and mechanical groups.

Responsible for monitoring and updating all contract programmes by regular discussions with site engineers and subcontractors' representatives and carrying out on-site monitoring of reported progress in order to report status accurately to the Site Manager, Regional Office and Head Office Management when necessary. I establish and communicate to all relevant parties the agreed interface links with the company and subcontractors' programmes to ensure contract targets are met allowing the commissioning to proceed to programme. I liase with the client in order to record progress and establish reporting procedures throughout the contract duration, enabling accurate progress claims to be submitted. I Review and highlight to the site management team any critical areas in the programmes, together with suggested improvements/alternatives to offset their effects.

I safely and effectively manage the staff, labour and resources allocated to execute a section of the contract scope of work in accordance with the pre-defined programme, quality standards and contract specifications and to ensure that they comply with company, client and contractual requirements. To provide a safe environment for the workforce by minimising the exposure to hazards; co-ordinating workface operations, ensuring that all resources are fully aware of all known risks and that everyone works safely in accordance with site procedures.

Co-ordinate, monitor and supervise the supply, services, installation and erection of subcontracts at site ensuring execution of the defined workscope of contracts in accordance with the quality, safety and site procedures thereby meeting contract. During Unit 6 2005 shutdown at Drax Power coal fired power station & Unit 3 2005 Ferrybridge coal fired power station.

Responsible for developing techniques to decommission radioactive, plant equipment and materials.

Responsible for developing the tender programme co-ordination activities associated with the preparation of tenders, including the issue and evaluation of subcontract enquiries, when required.

Aug 04 - Sept 04Planning Engineer Invista Wilton UK

Invista Wilton Nitric 2 & 3 Relief shutdown project/COGA Refurbishment project. Overhaul of plant to meet new safety standards, inspections and valve overhauls along with installation of new flare bushel.

Mechanical supervisor during shutdown period at Drax Power coal fired power station. Key responsibilities included installation of pressure parts- boiler stops, CMV main steam manifold pipe work and reheat drum supports on unit 1 boiler.

Assistant in planning key activities during shutdown period at Ferrybridge coal fired power station. Key responsibilities included planning & co-ordinating the replace of pressure parts- boiler stops, CMV pipe work and the boiler steam header.

Novartis Grimsby £18m New Construction Project. I was responsible for assisting in planning the construction of a new pharmaceutical manufacturing plant. This involved planning and coordinating the construction of mechanical installation, prefabrication and commissioning work. Project mainly consisted of pipe work fabrication (stainless steel, Chrome, Carbon steel) and installation of new Vessels.

Sept 02 - Oct 03 Assistant Mechanical Supervisor Total UK Lindsey Oil Refinery

Working within the Maintenance department & projects engineering team, which involved general maintenance repairs and small project shut downs overhaul/Refurbishments. Responsibilities for supervising labour, assessing jobs and building up quality assurance work packs for prefabrication and refurbishment work.

One-year Under Graduate work placement as a Trainee Production Engineer: Involved working within a production engineering team as a team player within the production-engineering department. I was involved in several projects where I implemented & designed production engineering equipment and written work procedures as an under graduate trainee. I designed & installed a final assembly line test rig to test domestic boilers to VDA 6 quality system audit standard. Redesigned a manufacturing work cell to best practice engineering production times.
