Main Responsibilities

Delivering starter & alternator products for 2006 EuCD programme, reviewing customer engineering specifications, responding to customer quotation, generating test plans, participating in PPAP run and holding regular reviews with the customer.

Projects

Land Rover L359 DW12 Starter Durability Concern

Investigate off-road durability concerns affecting the starter motor, analyse failed parts and review vehicle construction to determine failure mechanism. Recommend designs proposals at both the component & vehicle level to resolve concern.

2004-2005

Development Engineer - Starter Motor & Alternator

Main responsibilities

Responsible for improving warranty performance for 'Cross Car Line' (Ford, Jaguar, Mazda & Volvo) starter products. Lead weekly conference calls, understanding route cause & implementing containment/permanent corrective actions.

Projects

Implementation of Upgraded Starter Motor (Cross-Car line)

Investigated QIP & PRC data to determine the degree of warranty concern. Research motor design & benchmark durability of competitor products. A design proposal was presented to the customer and a cross-car-line concern was raised to action the change.

Ford Transit Connect - Alternator corrosion issue

Developed a plastic shield with removable B+ cap to protect the alternator from water splash. Reviewed the vehicle splash condition with the customer, modified the current shield design and incorporated a removable B+ cap, improving coverage and enhancing protection. Generated test plan to validate the design proposal.

2002-2004

Project Engineer- Starter Motor & Alternator

Main responsibilities

B-Car current/forward model project engineer. Interfacing with the customer regularly, working closely with the design, manufacturing and account teams to develop a solution to meet customer requirements.

Projects

Ford ST150 Alternator Air-Duct

Develop a two-piece plastic airduct to assemble to the rear of an alternator. Duct used to draw air from a cold location maintaining component temperatures (alternator in close proximity to exhaust manifold). Liaised with customer CAD team to generate proposals to suit vehicle package & build requirements and then with Visteon CAD to develop ideas into low-cost and easy-to-manufacture solutions.

Street & Sport Ka Alternator Noise concern

Investigate noise issues affecting the press launch & Job#1 vehicles. Determine route cause for noise issue through A/B swap analysis.
