Professional Experience:

Based at the Mediterranean loading Terminal, as the QA Engineer responsible for managing the quality aspects of the Terminal construction; this involves seven 150,800 m³ Tanks, piping, civil, loading facilities and a 2.6km piled jetty.

Working for the Inspection department (OTS) to cover the QA/QC activities on site and primalary to develop and instigate a quality management system for the inspection department only. During my time on site, I performed a number audits and prepared the basis and schedule of a proposed quality management system.

Responsible for the overall quality on the Pressure Maintenance Project (PMP) and as quality advisor to the Astokh Asset Manager, involving evaluation of existing quality systems, procedure development, defining quality activities for fabrication, Involvement in day-to-day quality problems, liaison with fabricators and involvement with Russian certifying authorities (GGTN). As the Company Representative, on take-over from the previous operator, of the third party inspection, contract (approx value of 200K). Handover package development for final documentation for Molikpaq upgrading (PMP), for acceptance by operations and Russian certifying authorities. I was also involved in 1 external audit at a tubing manufacture with SEIC drilling group. I was also responsible for updating and tracking the project HSE-MS system, with the development of the project HSE finding tracking database and preparation and issue of the monthly HSE report.

Responsible for the project Quality activities, the company representative on the Quality Surveillance contract, (approx. 1% of project budget), that involved several project/contractor internal / external and one Environmental audit. Project final document compilation and integration into PDO's electronic documents management system. I was also involved in HSE audits and in the latter stages of the project responsible for updating and tracking the project HSE-MS system and preparation of the HSE report for inclusion in the Project monthly report.

Involved in a review of Company Business practices (Quality Management System) in order to prepare corporate procedures, reflecting the current working practices utilised in the Company's operations.

Managing a department of local and Indian personnel, the activities involved engineering, procurement, civil/mechanical construction, installation, welding engineering, and quality assurance and control activities on the construction of the DuPont Suzhou Polyester Plant in China. With the preparation of site QMS procedures, contract quality documentation, administration of site and offsite QC activities, local vendor assessment and general quality administration on a multi-million dollar project, with a department of two Indian and nine local personnel.

Responsible for quality activities on the detailed design, procurement, fabrication, construction/installation, hook-up and commissioning of five offshore platforms associated sub-sea pipelines and onshore facilities. This involved the preparation and updating of project QMS procedures, specifications, and supplier/contractor evaluations, pre/post contract award activities, preparation and execution of 31 project/contractor internal and external compliance audits. This also involved the training of local project team members. Assisted with the development and introduction of a computerised archiving system for final project documentation, this involved the scanning, acceptance and retention of digitised files.

Contracted to assist with the development of a Company quality management system (QMS), this involved the formulation of a quality policy, corporate quality manual, procedures and liaison with other departments in the development of necessary control documentation.. I was involved with the formulation of the quality requirements for a proposed computerised material management system, In-house training of local personnel. Review and auditing of contractors, I was also involved in the development of an on-stream Inspection program for the Vessels and auxiliary equipment at the Desert Oil separation facilities.

On the Shell Naphtha minus complex project, reporting to the Project Manager with functional responsibility to the Corporate Manager, Quality assurance, involving the management of the project quality to ISO 9001, with the formulation of the Project Quality Plan encompassing the Company's QMS, preparation of contractor quality requirements, supplier/contractor evaluations, involving pre/post award activities. In addition, the work involved some 42 internal/external Audits and the quality planning, fabrication and erection of pre-assembly units at site.

Initially as a Quality Assurance, Engineer.

Responsible to the Corporate Manager, Quality Assurance, for planning, execution and reporting on internal auditing, preparation of standard check lists from networks and company procedures. Vendor Quality Manual review for compliance to ISO 9000 series Standards. I was also involved in trend evaluation and review of Company requisitions before issue.

The on site Project Quality representative, reporting to the Project Manager with a responsibility for, preparation, revisions, and issue of project QMS procedures, review of contractors and subcontractor quality systems and quality plans. Review and approval of welding and Inspection related procedures. During this period I was also involved with the preparation, implementation and reporting on six internal and external audits. Which also included the follow-up and close out of the applicable audit findings?

On the Shell's Kittiwake Project, with a responsibility for the quality assurance activities on procurement, this involved internal/external auditing to the project procedures and the ISO 9000 series of Standards. Quality trend evaluation of Inspection reports to evaluate and resolve any significant quality problems.

Moreover, on Conoco's Southern Basin Gas Development Project, responsibility for project quality activities, involving preparation and administration of the project quality program, planning, implementation and reporting on internal project and external contractor / supplier auditing to ISO 9001 Standards. Tender and contractor/subcontract evaluation and appraisal visits, clarification meetings. Administration of criticality rating activities in determining the extent of quality activities required. As required project management procedure updating resulting from internal audit schedule instigation, covering all project disciplines.

Responsible for maintenance Inspection in Western Nigeria, contracted to Shell Production, Development and construction. The duties involved maintenance inspection and engineering on offshore and estuary process platforms and onshore wellhead equipment, pipelines and process separation plant.

I was contracted on Shell's Fulmar Gas Project at St Fergus, this Involved Quality supervision at Suppliers works and on shutdown modification to pipework on site. This also included the welding supervision on the new plant construction and the incoming on plot offshore gas supply pipeline.

Assigned to Torness Nuclear Power Station, with responsibility for reactor, penetrations and small-bore stainless steel steam pipework within the reactor.

Assigned on Shell's Scotland Gas Project at Mossmorran, responsible for sites Welding Engineering activities, involving the review and approval of all welding, NDE and heat treatment procedures. The evaluation, recommendation and implementation of all technical issues involving welding and quality control during construction of the project and the liquid propane and butane pipeline link between Mossmorran and Breafoot Bay. For offsite pipe Vendor bid review and pre-award activities, liaison between client and contractor regarding welding, NDT, etc. I was closely involved in welder apprentice training and testing, which involved attendance at a working group in London, convened by the Engineering Industrial Training Board, to discuss apprentice training for the construction industry. I was also involved in the development and implementation of computerised programs for evaluation of welding repair trends and weld, Work Inspection Certificates (WIC), quality assurances, control records using the on site Hewlett Packard computer. In addition, I made several visits to London Head Office to assist in the resolution and approval of outstanding vendor procedures and technical problems.

I was contracted on Conoco's Hutton field, Tension Leg Platform (TLP) Project. With responsibility for certification at a pallet fabrication site, during this period I formulated the indexing system for project certification
