CV
Graduated in summer 2007 with an upper second class MEng from Loughborough University. My degree involved a high level of design work and concentrated essentially on problem solving in any aspect of mechanical design. On a number of occasions work was carried out directly with companies in a way a company would use a consultancy, most notably for me, my work with Siemens researching developing a turbine blade within a gas turbine. I also developed excellent Microsoft office skills and I am highly competent in report writing. I also have some level of knowledge with Visual Basic programming which can be useful in all areas of engineering and management.
While at University I was supported myself working freelance using Solid Edge and UX4 for high quality rendered images and animations SketchUP 6 for 'walk through' and screen shots of shop floor layouts and AutoCAD, producing original designs and engineering drawings for manufacture and shop floor site drawings.
Since graduating I have taken on contract work under my own limited company using Solid Edge V19/V20 and Catia V5 working on site. Work has been sub contracted to me I therefore have experienced a range of projects using different CAE packages in a short space of time. Most recently I worked partly from home and partly with the design company using MathCAD to carry out detailed stress analysis for a nuclear decommissioning crane which must conform to the correct British standards.
I also have some experiance in the rail industry, completing the installation details and drawings of WiFi equipment and data logging equipment, including electrical schematics, for Halcrow Derby.
I'm looking to continue my development as well as my company's taking on work from small projects to 6 or 12 month contracts of up to 50hrs/week. My rate will be negotiable depanding on the size of the contract and the system being used.

Stress analyst
RipleyPresent contract following a request to return to the same job mentioned previously. The same roles apply but work is to include changes since a design review.
(Apr 2008 to Jun 2008)
Design Engineer
DerbyDesign engineer working on the installation of WiFi equpiment mainly for the Virgin Voyager Class 221 trains, but other smaller jobs were also carried out. Work was done using Solid Edge V20, Modelling, detailed drafts and installation drawings were produced. Some electrical schematics were also needed and completed also using Solid Edge.
(Jan 2008 to Apr 2008)
Stress analyst
RipleyStress annalist sub contracted by AST Resourcing working on calculations for a crane intended for the nuclear decommissioning of military submarines. These calculations must meet strict criteria and comply with all nuclear safety requirements, conforming to BS 2573. I am contracted to a project management role in which I control entirely the information received and delivered as well as working directly with the calculations.
IT Skills: MathCAD 14, Microsoft Word
(Jul 2007 to Jan 2008)
CAD/Design Engineer
SheffieldContracted to AST Resourcing work was carried out on steel mill design, producing drawings, models and bills of material for manufacturing purposes. A high level of skilful data management is needed for this machinery which uses a thousand drawings for full manufacture. Data was controlled using Property Manager and Revision Manager, both inbuilt systems to Solid Edge. I also had input on a number of smaller projects while working as a CAD technician undertaking work on Catia V5, Solid Edge and AutoCAD.
IT Skills: Solid Edge, Catia V5
(Mar 2006 to Jul 2007)
CAD technician/Design Engineer
LoughborughUsing 3D CAD software for customer visualisation and web site woring from home and ocasionally on site. The company specialise in shop floor lay outs, large storage solutions and small steel building work. Work also included using AutoCAD to carry out engineering drawings and working on design solutions with the guidance of project managers. I undertook the implementation of a 3D CAD system for bespoke solutions and customer visualisation after sourcing and proposing an appropriate package.

Loughborough University
Modules studied include: Project Engineering, Mechatronics, Project Leadership, Business systems, Computational Fluid Dynamics, Laser and optical measurement, laser materials processing, Vibration and noise, Industry Based Project. (Further details on request)
Individual Project: The aim of the project was to research and investigate the air flow over elliptical cross section balls in sport taking into consideration various conditions that might occur. This was done using CFD software. Good analytical and research skills were needed for the project.
Final Year Project: The aim of the project was to optimise a turbine blade for Siemens Ltd. CFD analysis and a number of design and development techniques were used within a small team. The project needed good design, development, analytical and team working skills.
IT Skills: Visual Basic, Fluent, Gambit, Unigraphics (NX4), Solid Edge, Adams, Matlab, and knowledge of windows applications.
