I am a developer with a wide range of supplementary skills in systems architecture. With a variety of scripting, and compiler based programming languages I have me the all round knowledge to make great website. Add to that marketing knowledge and experience gained from running my own companies over the last few years, and you have a highly skilled individual with a wide range of technical accomplishments.

Head of IT and Senior systems developer for a hedge fund producing intranet technologies for order and trade management, and multiple research and reporting projects to support a diverse front office, as well as providing systems for back office, and integration with third parties.

Web Developer
• Key PHP, HTML, CSS, Javascript (prototype, ExtJS, JQuery, scriptaculous), SQL, XML and XSLT. Intranets for numerous customers.
• Introduced subversion source control, CakePHP, Smarty, Agile methods, and unit testing.
• Managed training of 6 developers and transition to new technologies and platforms.
Lead Developer (Java)
• Responsible for maintaining all existing Java products, plus research and development.
• Products included SOAPHub (an Enterprise SOAP messaging system integrating a Legacy system with .NET and numerous other client technologies).
• Developed and extended collaboration software based on Zimbra (integration with our own systems), Alfresco (Spring and Hibernate) and OpenFire (jabber messaging).
• Integration and experimental tools development for Google Apps (SAML, and other APIs)
Infrastructure Manager and Architect
• Rebuilt the entire data centre infrastructure in 3 days following the Buncefield Disaster.
• Introduced proactive monitoring (nagios), and massively increased technical support performance and response. Ran training for issue response.
• Introducing a VoIP system based on Asterisk with PHP management tools.
• Ran three data centre deployments in London, Manchester and Cambridge, and a 350 location network of many thousands of nodes.
• Managed Redhat Enterprise Linux 4 and 5, Tomcat, PHP and large scale MySQL

Social Photography firm

For some years I ran a small seasonal photography studio in Cambridge. In our busiest summer, I managed 7 photographers who took over 35,000 photos in two weeks, which I processed (Photoshop and Imagemagick) on a cluster of servers, running bespoke software written by me, and sold through an eCommerce site of my own design.

• Introduced project management techniques such as gantt charts. Bought my first project in on time with a third of the budgeted team size.
• Managed 20+ servers (Linux and Windows).
• Maintaining an existing system with MS SQL Server and ASP VBScript, and adding XML-RPC support. Integrated Java and XML based credit card solutions including Worldpay, Xpay and ePDQ (ClearCommerce), and developed fraud prevention systems.
