Then helped drive change throughout the business by: establishing a Working Party for each fee earning department; engaging marketing agency to develop communications strategy; implementing sales initiatives; delivering cost reductions: Winter 2007/8. • Facilitated long term business growth by: recovering 28 acres of land from tenancy and securing both detailed planning permissions & £75k free grant from County Council towards infrastructure costs.
• Turned round Distribution department from high cost poor performer to profitable efficient service provider, resulting in business becoming sole East Coast port-of-entry for raw steel to BMW and Honda.
• Close relations with customers in Western Europe, Scandinavia and UK resulted in winning trade from other ports & the development of new channels of trade.
• Negotiated and agreed evergreen lease and operating agreement with new sector customer in exchange for building bespoke facility at the port yielding ROC >15%.
• Reviewed and updated laboratory equipment and associated handling/storage procedures, ensuring port was fit for 21st century food and feed chain purpose.
• Introduced 5-year rolling capital replacement programme to smooth cash flow.
• Negotiated introduction of new regulations with relevant Authorities and lodged, if justified, legally based formal objections.

• SR Communications plc. Re-engineered warehousing and pick/pack activities of storage and fulfilment division.

• British Red Cross. Interim manager for all British Red Cross Centres across Greater London working with full-time staff and volunteers to ensure that their service delivery was fit for purpose.

As interim CE, responsible to Chairman and Committee for: The Cartier International Day, other high profile tournaments, membership management, catering contracts, sponsorship, stables. Achieved key tasks of sorting out accounts and accounting and admin procedures.
• Coopers Metals. Rationalised the company’s scrap reclamation depots within the London area without loss of business.

From general management trainee, via junior & middle management jobs in production, distribution and sales, to Head of National Primary Distribution across the UK.
Highlights included:
• Lobbying MPs for the introduction of higher Gross Vehicle Weights (GVWs).
• Introducing 38 tonnes GVWs across all fleets without increasing pay and without disruption, whilst standardising vehicle specifications.
• Re-engineering the Group's internal supply chains, enabling high cost small brewing and packaging plants to be closed.
• Managing the transfer of sales to the major multiple grocers from high street drops to Regional Distribution Centre (RDC) deliveries.
• Conception, development and introduction of the Distribution Bus Service a unique system of timed deliveries.
