CV

I have worked with multinational, national, and small family companies during my career.

I am security cleared to SC level

My experience consists of multi site operations, quality management systems, lean manufacturing, supply chain procurement, supply chain management, new product introduction, facility relocation, fleet management, and project management. This has been gained through exposure to many diverse operating practices, industries, and work ethics.

My experience and knowledge of supply chain, logistics, industry structures, and IT systems has enabled me to establish supply chain networks on a worldwide basis utilizing road, air & maritime transport that deliver on time and within budget.

Since my time in the Royal Navy I have brought conceptual ideas into reality, managed 200 + people across several European production facilities, created lasting commercial alliances, added value to large and small projects, and have created national policy with my peer group. Currently 30’000 industry decision makers on a monthly basis read my informed opinion in the industry trade press.

I have extensive subcontractor management, procurement, design, and budgetary experience.

My role with several EADS businesses has further developed my change management skills in a heavily unionized and structured environment, utilizing my previous supply chain and engineering experience.
The challenge of these positions has been to keep the project on track, and on budget whilst introducing new complex equipment and operating procedures. The teams have also had to ensure that all systems of work & equipment were compatible with the SAP MRP system, Lean manufacturing & supply chain principles, Airbus & Astrium procurement procedures, and the stringent CAA & JAR.

During my employment I have held various positions in a variety of industries. My leadership and skills experience has always been an integral part of the positions I have held, whether that has been in devising new working practices, resolving problems, or creating sustainable operational systems.

Health and Safety is a major factor in any project management position. I have been responsible for initial site surveys in sewerage treatment works, Nuclear Power stations and waterside operations. All activities have to have a full risk assessment carried out, and were fully audited by myself during the operation required.

A major factor of my employment has been the ability to adapt new working practices into profitable working practices for the company. My negotiation skills have been put to good use when dealing with existing, and newly arrived staff when new working practices are being implemented, or proposed. I have always managed to achieve the goals required without any industrial action being instigated.

I will provide you with profitable cost effective solutions, NOT expensive idea's

Achievements to date

1 Established an operational multi modal international logistical network for a conceptual product that has evolved into the blue print for all logistic operational reviews.

During the set-up process my budget for all aspects of the project was £23m. This included cost effective procurement of equipment, sub contractors, existing company assets, and new technology. All milestones were achieved and my fellow team members looked to me for advice and mentoring.

My remit covered 2 operational sites in the UK and further manufacturing facilities in Europe

2
Created a lasting alliance between 2 organisations to serve an aerospace client. This involved investigating the requirements, identifying the companies available to undertake the work, and then leading both companies through the tender process.

The project involved transportation via a multi modal system of a complete aircraft wing assembly from the UK to Spain. The design and manufacture of a transport system to allow for all projected loadings upon the flying component, the procurement of suitable road transport equipment to undertake the movement.

Budget for this project was £2m and involved 25 staff from 4 separate companies based throughout Europe.

3
Establish a vehicle fleet renewal programme for a not for profit charity based in Somerset. This project was challenging due to the extremely limited budget available to the charity and the extensive service level agreements that were in place.

Using my extensive contact network the charity now has 1 vehicle on order, with options on a further 3 vehicles to follow that all meet the service level agreements currently in place for £24000.00 each.
My procurement and operational knowledge has saved the charity approximately £35000.00 to date.

4
Policymaking and having my views published on a regular basis in the transport industry trade press is a major achievement over the last 3 years. As one of many consultee’s involved with the Safe Coupling Guide published by the Society of Operations Engineers, and recognised as the best practice by the Health & Safety Executive I contributed a large part of the coupling procedure that is now recognised as best practice. The number of my peers involved with this project exceeded 100.

My own views and operational systems have been published in the Commercial Motor & Transport Engineer publications on a regular basis over the last 3 years. As a member of the Commercial Motor Operators Panel 30’000 industry decision makers on a monthly basis read my informed opinion.
