Own company developing and marketing two software products based around Microsoft Access

First product developed was a database development tool that documents Access database design using Microsoft Word. Software makes extensive use of custom controls and API calls

The second product is a timetable modelling software that allows complete flexibility using drops and drags features to allocate resources.

Professional consultant trained in Business Object Planning system:

The software used Microsoft Excel to analyse data held in a SQL Server database. Knowledge gained includes Advance use of Excel including VBA and database design in SQL Severs 2003 and 2005.

In addition to planning software, I also designed and successfully implemented a Front Running Trade Analysis system for a major investment bank using Excel VBA.

Design of Access database to generate daily market valuations for equities held

Requirement was to analyse manual Excel system and produce new system in Microsoft Access. This included linking to legacy system and valuation systems in Oracle database. VBA code used to convert data collected in report text layout into database structure.

Work included designing views in Oracle database system to calculate equities positions.

Design of RAD systems within the Finance Department based around Microsoft Access and Excel

Major requirement was the ability to respond rapidly to changes in front office systems to ensuring continuity of data.

Projects completed include:
• Derivatives reporting system
• Graphical modelling of trading systems
• Access database on Futures reconciliation
• Improved Foreign Exchange data reporting system

Access Database system to extract equity data from legacy system into new investment accounting software

Supervised two analysis programmers and devised solutions to extract data from legacy software and formatting into new system.

Design of database system to reconcile data during parallel running of new software.

Development of RAD systems based on Microsoft Excel and Access within the Finance Department

Projects completed include:
• System combining trading data from new and legacy data sources including recruitment of two programmers.
• Designed cost allocation model, allowing flexible allocation and reporting of overhead costs.
• Excel training to users to improve usage within the department.

Design Microsoft Access Database on medical research

System covered storing patients details from questionnaire and linking data collected from x-ray analysis. Major requirement was the ability to analyse the data for possible trends and causes.

Database modelling on re-financing of the Lloyds Names

Redesign of Access database allocations funds to Lloyds Names. Reduced calculation times from two days to under one hour allowing greater flexibility.

Access database concerning electric meter installations

New Access system covering order processing; registration and invoicing. System included fast processing of large text files on meter registration.

Various roles including business planning and system design.

Initial project was producing financial forecasts for scientific company to acquire funding on the venture market. Subsequent projects included producing business models in Excel; financial analysis; and designing and installing a complete computerised accounting for a FMCG organisation including control of inter company sales.
