Programmer
My main task was to develop software, based heavily on a given specification. I only added my thoughts on design when it came to sections not yet specified. This also involved basic (black box) testing, which determined that the program was not crashing.
Analyst Programmer
As above but I also worked along side the business analyst or the client themselves. I would either help with the program design or I would design the application from start. When it came to testing I would carryout both syntax error and logical error checks.
Trainer
As a trainer I ran training groups for both business and classroom environments. The main difference between the two is that business training tends to cater for small groups of delegates, who are there to learn a particular skill. While the classroom training is more like a college where the group is much larger and they expect to learn a few different skills. Also the business training usually runs for a week while the classroom training usually runs for a few weeks, even months.
Manager
As an IT Manager, I was responsible for every electrical device. This included all computer systems, their peripheral products e.g. printer, etc. The company’s alarm system, air conditioning units and other gateway boxes, which were connected to external host systems. My main duties were to keep the company’s IT infrastructure up and running. As their systems were very critical, the company would loss revenue for every minute the systems were down. The other main role was to develop most of the in-house applications and to design and develop the main e-business solution.
