Employment History
(Jun 2003 to Jul 2007)
CEO
Founder, investor and director of Temporal S. I set up the Company with a vision to build a business based on the product automation of the cryptography known as PKI and the introduction of biometrics into to ePassports. I secured funding of £400,000 which was used primarily to carry out initial product development. I was primarily responsible for bid management and wining initial customer contracts with the UK and Irish Governments. My primary role, apart from the day-to-day management of the business, was an evangelical one to support business development. My main achievement was the building of the Temporal S. brand and creating a significant market profile for a small company within the international ePassport market dominated by large players.
(Nov 2001 to Jun 2003)
Marketing Project Manager
Hired on a contract basis to develop, implement and project manage EMEA-wide marketing programmes for the company’s SME security and wireless (Cisco Mobile Office) product portfolio. This included a wide range of marketing activities from market research and opportunity assessment through to programme development and in-country roll-out – including direct mail, web marketing, on-page advertising and PR. This position included a great deal of travel liasing with Cisco teams across EMEA and assisting with the planning and implementation of marketing programmes in 32 countries.
(Jun 1999 to Oct 2001)
Head of Marketing
De La Rue InterClearInterClear was the UK’s first Certification Authority (CA) and is at the forefront of the PKI market, providing trust, authentication, security and legal status to e-business on a global scale. InterClear is now a wholly owned subsidiary of De La Rue the world’s leading security printer responsible for over 150 national currencies and ID systems.
I initially joined InterClear as a freelance marketing consultant. I then progressed to a fully employed member of staff responsible for all marketing activities. I was initially brought on board to assess the company’s marketing requirements and plan and implement an appropriate marketing strategy. I managed a marketing team and coordinate two external agencies, which implement the complete range of marketing activities, including advertising, direct mail, PR, web development, market research, events, sales support and product development support. This was a senior position with responsibility to plan and manage a modern digital marketing/corporate strategy.
(Jan 1999 to Dec 1999)
Marketing Consultant
RSA Security (Contractor)Hired as a freelance consultant to manage the European launch of RSA’s market-leading core cryptography SDKs. This involved very close liaison with sales and technical support to plan and implement a successful marketing programme, including direct mail, telemarketing, events and PR. Also managed the implementation of a European-wide contact management system, which was designed to standardise the method of storing and analysing the company’s contact data.
(Nov 1995 to Nov 1998)
European Corporate Communications Manager
The Open Group (X/Open)European Corporate Communications Manager: Nov ‘95 – Sept ’98 – Corporate Communications Director: Sept ’98 – Nov ‘98
The Open Group is a vendor neutral, international consortium of more than 300 member organisations whose mission is to cause the creation of a viable, global information infrastructure that is ubiquitous, trusted, reliable and as easy to use as the telephone - the IT DialTone.
Its members represent end user organisations, including leaders in government, academia, worldwide finance, health care, commerce and telecommunications, which have combined IT budgets in excess of $55 billion annually.
I was responsible for the development and implementation of the company’s European corporate and brand (IT DialTone, UNIX, etc.) marketing communications strategy. This included the planning and implementation of all communications functions - media relations, member, merger and crisis communications, design, web development, above-the-line advertising, direct mail projects and sales support, including market research and lead generation, etc.
Directly supporting the company’s executive board, I gave guidance on corporate communications strategy, message delivery and act as chaperone during interviews. I also supported the company’s CEO, and was responsible for writing all his speeches and presentations.

IBM
I joined Ogilvy & Mather as an account director on the international co ordination team that had recently won the contract to manage IBM's corporate communications function throughout Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA). Probably one of the largest single corporate communications accounts in existence, our task involved the establishment and management of a network of agencies throughout the region.
Employed to add hi tech experience to the international management team, my responsibilities included the initial appointment and ongoing management of agencies in Egypt, The Gulf, Turkey and Ireland. As an IT specialist, I was also responsible for the co ordination of EMEA wide projects for IBM's Software, Virtual Reality, AIX, AS/400 and Storage divisions. Most of these projects involve me working closely with the UK lead technology agency A-Plus, in country agencies and IBM EMEA communications in Paris.

Highlight was the launch of Apple's new operating system System 7.5 which included escorting 10 of the top UK and national journalists to Boston, USA, for an international press briefing and a London based press conference.

Responsible for providing communications support to the company's business development managers, the key objective of the campaign was to develop Oracle's profile within its main vertical markets, e.g. manufacturing, finance and local government.
