Research Fellow

This project is currently conducting new research into the barriers that face Black and ethnic minorities in entering, staying and progressing within the construction based industry. The research involved meeting and gaining the views from high prestige international construction industry Directors, employees and also students and senior lecturers based in HEs in the North West. The findings of this project will lead to the development of a framework of recommendations that will disseminated to industry, academia and the UK government to facilitate and encourage proactive and positive change.

Research Fellow

The project analysed and triangulated interview and questionnaire based empirical findings of working practices and organisational cultures within engineering companies, to assess what may hinder the lifelong entry, retention (and return) of women engineers. The project developed policies and strategies that were proactively aimed at the facilitation of the entry, retention and progression of women within the industry.

Research Fellow

Manchester Metropolitan University, Digital Media SMEs and E-Learning

This project consisted of contributing to both the Digital Media Watch (DM-W) and Digital Media University (DM-U) projects (cumulatively £500K) and their research into the creation of an efficient and effective SME online training framework. The researcher was also requested to contribute to research into a NWDA broadband, ESF bid and SME e-learning delivery project.

University of Salford, Raising the Standards for Effective E-Learning Support

Primary researcher on a North West Development Agency (NWDA) funded project to analyse and assess the core skills and competencies required by e-tutors to both effectively and efficiently provide e-tutor support.

University of Salford, ADAPT/IDIEL Project

Key researcher on a University for Industry (Ufi) funded project to analyse and assess the issues surrounding lifelong and distance learning. The project focused on designing and assessing the potential efficiency and effectiveness of differing delivery e-learning frameworks with on-line learners based within SMEs.
