Doncaster DEC

This was a tester to see if someone from my background could fit into an architectural environment and perform with efficiency in a different design environment under extreme pressure and diversity of tasks. I got a unique insight into the procedures of an architectural office and was able to use my collective skills to produce floor plans, door schedules, window schedules, building details and solutions. I was also able to use my skills to increase the efficiency of communicating with structural, mechanical and electrical engineering companies to integrate their information into the architectural database and allow the rest of the team to perform their duties on up to date information.

Punch Taverns

Arranging the surveying of public houses to draw up at home and correspond through internet and post with another company to produce 11 outlet packs a week, travelling to and performing surveys of internal and external spaces. Then drawing up and posting, emailing the completed surveys at the end of the week.

This was performed completely alone with only a list, guidelines and an example drawing for starters.

Site layouts, space planning solutions, parking schemes and site organisation. Working between pen architects and CAD to ensure efficient information flow and coordination.

Design of new bathroom furniture range, production of detail manufacturing drawings, connection details. Working with patternmakers to produce prototype units. Working to extreme deadlines, production of other designer’s technical drawings to produce standards for firm. Cataloguing of existing units and proposed units for client sales database.

Antibo Restaurant Sheffield

Space planning of new build retail unit, production of technical drawings to manufacture feature items for space, meeting with suppliers, and working with an external project management team. Detailed breakdown and construction drawings for all items, features. All items, features bespoke and cost effective.

South Yorkshire police

Production of mechanical services layouts for new build stations, and upgrades to existing arrangements. Working closely with engineers to produce individual solutions for each case.

SHU School of Health

Productions of diagrams, schematics, details and floor layouts for Mechanical Electrical services for multi storey learning facilities, GA mark-ups. Coordination of Graphical database to aid engineering design. Advising on AutoCAD practices to get the projects out on time to high standard.

Centerparcs Project horizon

Heavy detailing of mechanical electrical services, coordinating with other practices and architects to split the area up into workable zones. Adapting to constantly changing project boundaries to tight deadlines. Advising on new practices with AutoCAD 2002 to comply with new issuing methods and transforming different engineers methods to produce drawings in compliance with external visual identities.

Exchange Works – Sheffield

Preparation of drawings with Gleeson precision engineering for new build multi storey residential block in city centre. Co ordination of external staff to help with RC detailing for first two floors and foundations. RC detailing on smaller parts of project. Production of floor plans, sections and elevations. Site visits to monitor progress of project and liase with site manager to provide solutions for occurring problems.

Telecom planning drawings

Production of Min 3 No. drawings per project in two or three days to meet with client’s deadlines, Steelwork checks and detailing for rooftops using BTCellnet guidelines to provide solutions for wall mounted antennae. Drawings produced from sketches, photographs and multimap excerpts. Use of GRP to hide antennae in public/visible areas.

Rhodia Eco services
Site surveys in hazardous environment to determine existing arrangement of Hydrochloric acid pipe work, replacement of existing with new PTFE lined pipe work, production of symbol library, detail drawings and arrangement of new from catalogues supplied by client. Close correspondence with Rhodia site manager to provide acceptable solutions.

Dorset Coast resignalling
Production of full set of 80 A0 presentation drawings to tight deadline. Study of railtrack standards and guidelines to be able to work alone while engineer was out on site working with client. Planning of drawing layout and most economic way to display information and reference between report and drawing.

Mottram – Tintwhistle bypass
Preparation of diagrams for reports from engineer information, preparation of large-scale drawings from ordnance survey information such as land ownership, traffic relief etc…

Kings court prow reconstruction
Demolition and reconstruction of the prow outside kings court Sheffield, with limited space available for site equipment. Survey of site to determine acceptable placement of plant and labour resources. Demolition drawings for existing glazed steel structure, production of steelwork details, plans for new prow construction and glazing fixing details.

South Tees Hospital

Production of tender set of drawings for large multi storey hospital. covering for ill staff member. General arrangement drawings, schematics, diagrams and coordination of small power equipment needed for room with locations of hospital equipment.

Cornish Place, Brooklyn Works

Development of existing derelict industrial buildings into expensive residential studio flats. Production of GA drawings, sections and details. Interpretation of site geotechnical surveys, site visits to study trial pits and produce accurate information of ground make up.

Wragby and Hessle cottages.

Traditional new build project of two cottages to fit in with existing landscape. Production of general arrangement drawings from foundations to roof, sections and details from engineers sketches.

Survey drawings of defects in existing car park floor slab, large scale plans showing extents of defects from sketches, remedial works to install new waffle construction floor slab.
