Consultant – Manchester Airport Plc

3 month fixed term contract with the specific aim of bringing more business to Manchester Airport. Worked with tour operators and airlines to encourage them to either switch business from other regional airports to Manchester, or add additional frequency in order to grow the number of charter flights that take off at Manchester airport to increase revenue for the airport.

Key achievements include:

. Added extra lines of flying throughout August and October by encouraging tour operators to re route their existing regional aircraft to Manchester airport for Manchester’s peak holiday period.

. Opening end of season closed sectors to long haul destinations extending the operation for a further week.

. Added additional lines of flying for Christmas and Feb half term 2008.

. Introducing airlines to independent tour operators who would favour taking charter allocations/chartering full aircraft.

. Encouraging an improved yield for both airlines and tour operators by identifying the availability of capacity at the airport, encouraging movement of capacities from non performing UK airports to Manchester, also offering the consumer better choice to fly from Manchester.

Joined HCCT Holidays as a flight controller. Promoted to Aviation Manger in 1998 where I became responsible for planning the tour operators flight programme.
1999 promoted to Aviation Director and became accountable for strategic developments within the core tour operation of the business. 2001 promoted to Deputy Managing Director with the full responsibility of Aviation, flight only product and Inclusive Tours. Launched Locoflights.com in December 2001 which was a low cost product operating to Alicante, Malaga, Lanzarote and Tenerife offering 7% commissions to travel agents. 2002 promoted to Managing director reporting to the CEO.

. Full responsibility of the tour operator’s programme which include aviation, commercial, contracting accommodation, yield management and margins.

. Planning flying programme and purchasing full series and ad hoc charters from both UK and overseas airlines.

. System inventory control of all purchased seats and accommodation.

. Leading the distribution strategy, commercial terms and tactical incentives

. Management of commercial and operations team, overseas and UK.




. Assistance given in the improvement of the functionality of the company website.

. General management of office functions including the recruitment of managers.

. Full P&L responsibilities, management and strategic direction as an independent tour operator.

. Conception, development and launch of LOCO (low cost no frills) which contributed to 30% of our overall turnover.

. Successfully achieving on line sales through our website’s www.ct2-flights.com and www.locoflights.com

. Successful leader in the Tenerife market with approximately 18% share of Manchester Airport’s charter market operating to Tenerife

. Aftermath of Sept 11th 2001 took the responsibility in cancelling our committed aircraft and accommodation due to the lack of sales and purchased other tour operator’s distressed stock. Recognising that Inclusive tours at this time was a depressed market a new product was required .Which led to the launch of Locoflights.com in December 2001
