I have worked for many different businesses in a variety of industries. I have gained valuable on-site experience and use that knowledge now to work freelance. This means I can work with many different clients for a few hours a week or month to suite them. I have gained practical knowledge of book-keeping and am now qualified.

Secretary/PA/Book-keeper

I am employed as a secretary/PA to the director in my current role. I take telephone messages, type up reports and letters using Word, prepare training material, update their diary and checking e-mails using Outlook, complete the book-keeping using Excel, complete any filing and faxing, and any other general office duties that are required. I am also subcontracted to a health and safety company within the same building to work as his PA. I thoroughly enjoy my role within this company, it is very flexible and I have learnt a lot about the industries as well as keeping all my secretarial skills up to date. I am leaving because the amount of business they are receiving has decreased and therefore they do not need me anymore.

Care Co-ordinator

I worked in the Nottingham office of Abacus Care as a Care Co-ordinator. My main role was administrative. I did filing and photocopying, sent out application forms and references for potential staff and many other general office duties. I also greeted clients and staff in the reception area and escorted them to interviews or meetings. I answered the telephone, took messages and dealt with enquiries, from clients and staff. I inputted data into spreadsheets and typed letters using Microsoft Word. I left Abacus because I was no longer needed in the Nottingham office and did not want to travel to their Leicester office everyday.

Office Administrator

Courts UK

I worked at Courts within the office team. There were four other people in the office. I helped with chasing orders, advising customers when their order was in stock, booking the deliveries and cashing up tills. I also helped with customer services, solving major and minor problems and at times dealing with very difficult customers. I left Courts because I wanted an office-based position outside of retail.
