I have dedicated the last eight years of my career to the creation of a National Biodiversity Network; an initiative to network the UK’s biodiversity organisations and data. This project is of great value to the conservation of the UK’s environment and I have been very proud to be part of it.
I have a strong sense of loyalty and responsibility for society and local communities. There are three areas that capture my imagination and will stir me into action; education, health and fitness and the environment. I believe all three are integral to a healthy and happy life, to well run, safe communities and a society to be proud of. It is not just about nodding your head at reports in the news it is about helping to do something about it. This might mean leading others to set up an initiative, group or event or by contributing to a team. In my work I have also encouraged young people to be healthier, stronger, more flexible and fitter. I have actively promoted the value of nutrition in my role as a childminder and through my after school FitKid clubs.
I am very fortunate, as my role at the NBN Trust allows me to be creative. I have been the key player in designing a new corporate identity for the Trust that was fully endorsed by the Board of Trustees. The initial need and the business case came from certain communication issues such as confusion between the Network and the Trust and because of our main output, the NBN Gateway reaching a stage where it is now operational and useful. However being a charity resources are scarce. I allocated a small budget for printing and to fill the gaps I procured services, donated in kind, from some of our member organisations to help with the production and design of our new suite of leaflets.

• Successfully established new charity, The National Biodiversity Network Trust (also as a company limited by guarantee) and its trading company (company limited by shares)
• Manage a £150,000 annual budget for the charity
• Manage £0.25 million annual budget for a 10 year project for the Department for Food and Rural Affairs
• Written grant applications, secured funding and set up a corporate membership scheme for the above charity
