Have extensive experience of all aspects of the printing industry having served six years as an indentured apprentice compositor and having worked for some of the leading print houses since 1961. As a compositor I am fully conversant with all aspects of origination from author's raw copy to final print-ready proof. I have designed, typeset and proofread manuscripts for many leading magazine and book publishers whilst working in the commercial side of the industry.

Due to the closure of the Wigan College in-house design studio I became self employed as a freelance graphic designer and typesetter. I worked with local publishers and also some of the larger publishing houses who had used the in-house facility at Wigan College. I retired in 2005 but now feel I may still be of service to people or businesses who require print related materials (desk top publishing, proofreading, etc.).

Studio Manager

Greater Manchester

Managing a design staff of eight, I was responsible for the in-house production of distance learning materials, from authors raw copy to finished artwork ready for press. Due to the volume of materials we produced I was also responsible for liaising with print and finishing houses regarding quality and deadlines where our materials were being printed.I also did some part-time lecturing in the college's department of art and design.
